Easter cake competition

Our Chef Julie Lawrence, who is well known to our resident's and families alike for her fabulous home baked cakes, helped our residents create their entry for the Barchester Easter cake competition. The resident's baked a Victoria sponge that was then adorned with decorations of flowers and bunnies delicately put together by Julie and marzipan chicks hand made by the resident's of Cubbington Mill. Everyone worked really hard and they are very proud of the finished article.

Jacob and Erna celebrate 60 years of Marriage in style

Valentine's Day was the perfect time for Jacob and Erna Mychajilyszyn to celebrate 60 years of married life. Jacob and Erna met at a friends wedding and soon fell in love - the rest, as they say, is history. They went on to have two daughters, Angela and Irene who are regular visitors to the home. They celebrated the day in style with a lovely meal, and a glass of bubbly, all accompanied by a classical pianist playing in the dining room.

Coffee Morning at Cubbington Mill

Our coffee morning on Thursday 27th February was a great success and was supported by residents and their families, all enjoyed the morning - especially the freshly baked cakes. Our residents took a well deserved break as they had helped bake the cakes and put together the flower arrangements displayed on the day. Later on they got into the party spirit and finished the morning of with a drop of sherry.

Baking Club

Baking Club was in full swing last week when residents spent the afternoon practising their almond sponge recipe for our Coffee Morning. The residents are pleased to announce the trial run was very successful and their cakes turned out perfectly.

Valentine’s Day

Love was in the air at Cubbington Mill this Valentine’s Day. Our resident's enjoyed a Valentine's Day lunch accompanied with a glass of red wine and a classical pianist playing throughout. The tables were decorated with flowers, heart shaped doyleys and decorations - hand made by the residents. And Cupid visited everyone; all were given a personalised gift. Later on the celebrations continued with Cream Teas and entertainment provided by Dora who was accompanied by the residents playing instruments and singing along.

"24th January 2013 - The staff are nice, food is lovely. I didn't think I would like life in any care home but I realise this is the best place and I think it is really lovely here. I have no complaints at all and I have no doubt it will be even better in the summer "

"24th January 2013 - I have always been confident that my mother has been treated with patience and understanding by friendly and well trained staff."
