Fit as a Fiddle at Henford House
Residents at Henford House enjoyed an interactive Family and Friends Day which was part of Age UK's 'Fit as a Fiddle' programme. The day was funded by the Big Lottery Fund and promoted by N.A.P.A. - The National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People. Residents were joined by family members, volunteers as well as members of staff, and together with N.A.P.A. facilitator Julia Burton-Jones everyone looked at the importance of physical activity or movement, mental well-being and nutrition.

Potato Harvesting
After harvesting the potatoes that they had grown in the gardening club, the residents then passed them on to the chef to be boiled. After they were cooked and cooled, they then chopped them up with some parsley and an onion, after mixing them all together with some mayonnaise they produced a delicious potato salad. That afternoon Rev Littler came for tea, where they shared cold meat and their homemade potato salad.

Ducks Spotted!
WOW! What a lovely day at Henford House. I witnessed a mother duck who had built her nest in the shrubs by the front entrance, encouraging her newly born ducklings to leave their nest. What a sight to behold, proud Mum stood with her babies, waiting for her last offspring to jump up that last step before she could take her family on their journey. To a loud applause and after about the tenth attempt of that rather high step that last little duckling conquered what must have seemed like a mountain to him/her. Once the little one joined the rest of its family, they waddled off behind Mum.

A mix of recent activities
Residents of Henford House Care Home have recently taken part in a range of activities from getting their hair styled in the salon to being creative with pottery and indulging in a spot of gardening.

Wedding Blessing at Henford House
We arranged a Marriage Blessing on Thursday 28th April for Vera and Harry Edwards. Harry is a resident at the home, Vera lives in Warminster. They have been married 63 years this August. The ceremony was conducted by Steve and Janet Wood from the Christian Fellowship Group. They come into Henford House twice monthly to hold a prayer group. It was a really emotional day, enjoyed by staff and residents. Vera and Harry's Daughter and Son-in-law (Marilyn and Roger Hale) shared in the celebrations too. After the ceremony there was a celebration lunch.
