Activities at Oak Grange Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Oak Grange Care Home

A whimsical Wonderland; the mad hatters tea party at Oak Grange.

In the heart of our beautiful home a magical event unfolded, transporting residents into a whimsical wonderland. The mad hatters tea party inspired by a Lewis carols classic tale, filled the air with laughter and joy. Dressed in colourful costumes our residents were entertained by all the characters of Alice in Wonderland. A visit from Chestnut house and Grange House nursery just added to the joy and laughter of the day. Along with copious amounts of tea and an array of delicious sandwiches, cakes and scones provided by our lovely chef ensured we all had a wonderful afternoon.

Herstory of Mayfair

‘Herstory’ of Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

A Day at the Museum

Residents from Oak Grange enjoyed a day out at Chester Museum, Even though a lot of us have lived in Chester for many years we all learned something new about the history of our fair city. This fascinating museum is full of artefacts and pictures of times gone by and the rich history of Chester. Did you know Chester was founded as a roman Fortress in AD79, Known as Deva Victrix. It played a significant role in the roman occupation of Britain and was an important military and administrative centre. The Chester cathedral was originally a Benedictine Abbey. No matter how old we get we are never too old to learn something new. We finished our day off by driving down to the river Dee for a lovely ice cream and to watch the boats go by. Just one of our many days out that we do on a regular basis as we have our own minibus, the world is our oyster, well maybe not the world but within a few miles of home.

World Chocolate Day

An Explosion of Chocolate, what a day we had here at Oak Grange celebrating National Chocolate day, we started our morning off by baking some delicious chocolate cake. Then a tasting session of all different chocolate from around the World, last but not least came our chocolate fountain with an abundance of fruit to drizzle in the warm chocolate cascade. Even the visiting physios could not resist a strawberry covered chocolate jewel. This was a wonderful day full of delicious sweetness and chocolate delights enjoyed by all the residents and staff.

Walls Ice Cream

National Ice Cream Day

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.

Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.

A dog is for life

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.

Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.
