Christmas Time!

We all had a fantastic time here at Southerndown over the festive period - as you can see! Santa made a visit with his elves bringing everyone a present, and we partied!! We enjoyed a wonderful Christmas Buffet and dancing to " Jo Jo " and Tony and his Piano.

Afternoon of Art

Residents at Southerndown Care Home in Chipping Norton enjoyed a talk on the advantages of Art and Music in promoting well being, followed by an afternoon of Music and Dance provided by Tony ''Mr Music'' Harrison. Inspired by this, many of the residents sat down to work on producing colourful works of art, which the Home is now proudly displaying on its notice boards. One resident said it took her back to the days when she used to paint all the time and wasn't sure which she enjoyed most; the afternoon tea dance or the afternoon of art the following day!

Fireworks Party

Everyone had a great time at our fireworks party to celebrate Bonfire Night.

The Brownies come to Southerndown for, er, brownies!

The local Brownie pack recently visited us for a sing along session. Everybody was invited and we were slightly taken aback, but thrilled, by the unexpectedly large turnout, we all had such a brilliant time. We had a fantastic afternoon joining in with the songs and chants and attempting the synchronised dance routines. Many of our residents reminisced with the visiting pack about when they had been young girls in the Girl Guides and Brownies. A fantastic buffet followed and Stuart, our Head Chef, made some fabulous chocolate brownies.

Winter Baskets

Residents, staff and visitors enjoyed the late Autumn sunshine while creating our winter hanging baskets full of pansies and foliage. Afterwards we all enjoyed a welcome cup of tea in the Courtyard. Everybody had a fantastic time and we have already received positive feedback about the difference to the overall look and feel of the Home.
