Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home

Music

We love our music at Cheshire Grange, we have regular entertainers but we also like to invite new acts to entertain our ladies and gents, and Lockdown Ukes were one of our new acts, who did not disappoint it was like they’d always been playing for us. What an afternoon, laughter, smiles, singing and dancing…so much dancing. The ladies and gents were treated to traditional folk songs and popular tunes old and just a little bit older, everybody was ready for the tea and cakes that afternoon!

Ice Cream Sunset

When the evening sun is shining on the balconies what do sophisticated ladies do ….if they are Cheshire Grange ladies they don their best hats and sun glasses and have an evening ice cream soiree…of course!

That's what friends are for

International Friendship Day is a global celebration emphasising the importance of friendship and fostering harmonious relationships across cultures and borders. This day encourages individuals to appreciate and cherish their friends, promote acts of kindness, and bridge divides through understanding and compassion. It serves as a reminder to nurture and strengthen friendships, recognizing their positive impact on personal well-being and creating a more inclusive and interconnected world.

To celebrate this day residents at Cheshire Grange put together 'Friendship Hearts' a small gift with a special message, this were then left around Lymm village. We were delighted to receive this email from a little girls Mum, with a beautiful photograph of Evie who found one of our hearts

Cheshire gallery open for business!

We have so much creative talent here at Cheshire Grange, we had our very own Art Exhibition to showcase the residents talents.  Our residents have the opportunity to take part in regular art & craft sessions, we always try to make these as age appropriate as possible, and residents enjoy recreating masterpieces and learning about different artists , but sometimes we do just like to get the clothes pegs, fluffy pom poms and sparkly beads out.

These sessions increase creativity and stimulate the development of new skills, and trigger lots of interesting conversations, and although we don’t focus on the finished piece residents can feel a sense of worth. On seeing the exhibition resident Margaret said, ‘This is beautiful, have we really done all this, it’s like a real show’

Totally ‘Roarsome’ Artwork

This month, World Lion Day, not only gave residents an excuse to watch the Lion King and Born Free, but also to get really creative with an Andy Warhol style piece.

Residents on all communities had a lot of fun creating individual, very colourful lions, there was lots of chatter about the different wool textures and colours, about zoo & safari park visits and lots of other little reminiscence gems. This craft activity was really great to get everyone involved as we were able to take it to the residents who were in their rooms, it is very important to us that we look at activities we can take to the resident.

When we had a good selection of lions, some residents chose to keep theirs for their rooms, we were able to assemble our finished piece with the rest, I hope you all agree that the residents can take a great deal of ‘pride’ in themselves for such a ‘roarsome’ creation!

Herstory of Mayfair

‘Herstory’ of Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.
