Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home

The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

St Mary's at Christmas

Being part of the local community is very important for our residents, giving them a sense of belonging and connectivity to the village in which they live, we are very proud of our continuing links with St Mary’s C of E Church.

We have regular visits from the church for our communion service, Jill the Curate at St Marys helps us to make connections with the local schools .Christmas is a special time and we welcomed back the coral singers from the church for a beautiful evening carol service and we always take part in the churches Christmas Tree Festival.

This year’s theme was ‘New Beginnings’ we filled our tree with photographs of residents weddings, which was a very big new beginning for most!

...And stretch...

It can take a lot of persuading to come along to a Get Active Session, come along, sit and watch, join in when you like …. Throw some props in and suddenly everyone’s competitive side came out, balloon tennis, hockey & paddle ball had residents laughing and showing some very good sporting skill, we are thinking of inviting the GB Olympics selection committee to the next session!

We had started the session with the silk parachute and to end the morning we used the ‘stretchy Octopus’ which require a lot of concentration to keep the ball balanced on the central panel.

When we asked one resident if they’d enjoyed the workout they said ‘I’m sweating and it’s your fault, next time I will wear something better’

First festive trip of the year

We made our first festive trip of the season to nearby favourite, High Legh Garden Centre. The ladies from our Memory Lane Community were entranced by the stunning displays and decorations. After serenading other garden centre visitors with every Christmas song we could remember we visited what was the highlight of the outing, High Legh’s Singing Reindeer!!!

Let us entertain you

Residents at Cheshire Grange love getting together for a good old sing song and look forward to when an entertainer visits. We are always looking to invite new entertainers to our home who will bring ‘something different to the party’ and this month we welcomed Joe Ashton who had residents in fits of laughter at his wonderful props as well as singing well known tunes, LeeAnn James also visited us for the first time this month and residents had a ‘proper knees up’ afternoon with her party style act.

It is wonderful to see residents and the wider Cheshire Grange coming together for these musical events.

Thank you to The Brownies

It was such a lovely surprise to receive a gift from 6th Lymm Brownies, a beautiful tallow winter pansy to plant to bring some joy to our residents.

Community links are very important our residents, helping to make them feel connected to the local village where they live and also thee connections are a fantastic way of prompting some wonderful reminiscence sessions, many of our residents were members of community group in their own villages and have some very interesting experience to share.

Embracing the Changing Seasons

There is something as Summer melts into Autumn that makes people more reflective, it’s a time for Harvest, giving thanks and thinking about others and the beautiful colours of the season lift our spirits as we prepare for the winter. Residents have taken part in autumn themed arts and crafts, read autumn poetry, sung harvest hymns, enjoyed an autumn feat prepared by the hospitality team and talked about what the season means to them.
