Activities at Cheshire Grange Care Home
The activities team are constantly striving to meet the varied needs of everyone who lives in our home, offering a wide range of group and individual social events. There are regular visits from entertainers, along with craft activities, baking, games & puzzle days and pampering sessions, which fill the week. However, we can always find time for outings and just spending that little bit of special time with residents who enjoy the peace and quiet. We aim to bring the activities to the individual, whilst making it a whole home experience.

After originally starting at Cheshire Grange in May 2015, I'm delighted to be back in the role of Activities Coordinator. It is a privilege to be in this role and spend time, getting to know our ladies and gentleman and their loved one, whilst doing all the fun things that can make such a difference to their days.

Life at Cheshire Grange Care Home
A busy time, a lot to celebrate
What an incredibly busy week, Chinese New Year, Shrove Tuesday & Valentine’s Day all within a few days.
We managed to celebrate all three occasions and not get any of them mixed up, residents enjoyed learning about Chinese Zodiac animals and what sign they were and if they showed any of the typical characteristics. The question for Valentine’s Day was ‘Love is……’ we had some interesting responses including …the glue that keeps is together and …hard work!
Our arts & crafts sessions saw residents making broaches for both Chinese New Year and Valentines and then wearing them with pride.
Balloon Fun
We all know that being asked to if we’d like to do some exercise can often bring a negative response... so let’s make it fun and let’s not call it exercise either.
Some swimming noodles, a few balloons and two energetic members of the activities team gave the ladies laughing muscles as good a work out as any others. To anyone passing by it looked like a lot of fun and a degree of giddiness, but the ladies on Memory Lane were, involved in team work, concentration, coordination and gently working limbs, joints and muscles and above all having a lot of fun.
Instrumental Entertainment
Our residents look forward to our singers coming into entertain, but they also like something a little different too and Tina id becoming a firm favourite with here Saxophone. Tina can take residents on a musical journey to suit all emotions, from the slow thoughtful or most melancholy pieces to energy filled numbers getting everyone clapping toe tapping and dancing.
Therapy Dog Visits
We are very lucky at Cheshire Grange to have three PAT registered doggie friends who come to bring smiles to our residents. Elvis our original visitor is a beautiful Golden Retriever, George a very playful SprockerDoodle and we have our newest edition to the doggie squad, Snoop a gentlemanly Cockerpoo. This week it was Georges turn to bring cuddles and smiles to our home.
Dunelm delivering joy
Cheshire Grange were delighted to be part of Dunelms Community initiative this year.
Each year Dunelm ‘Deliver Joy’ to local Care Homes, Schools and other Community Groups with gifts that have been generously donated from local businesses and individuals.
We are very excited for the residents to receive their gifts and would like to take this opportunity to extend a very warm heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who made this happen.
Andre on the big screen
When we discovered that Andre Rieu had a cinema show we knew we had to make it happen for some of our residents. It was a cold wet damp afternoon but the mini bus soon warmed up with the ladies smiles of anticipation.Once in the cinema and settled into our seats the ladies were taken on a magical journey by Andre and lost themselves in the music and visual spectacle.
On the way home snowflakes started to flutter adding to the magic, the evening was finished off with a fish and chip supper from the local takeaway.
