Activities at Longueville Court Care Home

Our activities coordinators are committed to organising a variety of activities that reflect the interests and capabilities for everybody we support ensuring a person centred approach.

The team have a flexible approach to our programme and we are constantly reviewing and updating our programmes to ensure we cater for everyone's needs and varied abilities.

The activities programme includes regular trips utilising the homes minibus, these include a number of destinations of local interest. We are particularly proud of the relationship we have built with Peterborough Sailability. This registered charity offers the opportunities to those with restricted mobility to enjoy the thrill of sailing on the open water and the sense of independence that brings in specially adapted boats.

Involvement in the local community is something that the whole team are very passionate about and we provide regular visits to a number of different facilities including local schools and churches. These activities also extend too visits from "Pat dogs" and local entertainers to aid in our ongoing quest to give each individual as much support and stimulation as they require.

Life at Longueville Court Care Home

Summer Fête

Summer Fête

There was a posh start to our annual summer fete when it was officially opened by Peterborough United's Manager, Grant McCann, and Club Chief Executive, Bob Symns.

The highlight of our home's events calendar attracts visitors from not only the home itself, but the local community as well.

This is our big summer event and the support from residents, staff, families and the local community is so valuable and very important to us. For Grant and Bob to take time away from such a busy schedule was fantastic and really appreciated by everyone who was there. Grant even helped with the 'Beat the Goalie' stand and showcased his goalkeeping skills.

This was our most successful fête to date and we look forward to a bigger and even better one next year.

Care Home Open Day

Care Home Open Day was celebrated at Longueville Court on Friday 16th June. Residents participated in garden games in the morning and a sing along in the afternoon, followed by live entertainment from singer, Karl, who joined us at our garden party. A traditional cream tea was served to members of the local community, residents and their loved ones. Everyone was in good spirits and singing and dancing was the order of the day.

Fundraising Week

Fundraising Week

Regular entertainer, Elvis, was kind enough to start off our fundraising efforts for Fundraising Week.

Staff, residents and family members cycled 318 miles on an exercise bike over the course of the week, which is the equivalent of biking to Scotland. All money raised went towards Barchester’s Charitable Foundation and our residents' fund.

Weekly Exercise Class

Weekly Exercise Class

Residents are pictured here enjoying their weekly exercise class with Tom from Oak Activities. We have a large number of residents who join in each week and very much look forward to Tom's visit. They enjoy using light weights and soft balls to get their bodies moving and are already seeing the differences that exercises are having on their general well-being.

Ferry Meadows

Ferry Meadows

Longueville Court has been making the most of the recent warm weather with visits to our local park, Ferry Meadows. Residents enjoyed walks around the lakes and feeding the ducks, as well as having a nice refreshing cup of tea and ice cream to finish the afternoon off. We are lucky to have such a lovely park so close to our home and we look forward to visiting again soon!

Coffee Morning

Coffee Morning

Residents enjoyed delicious cakes and coffee when Longueville Court held their coffee morning in aid of Dementia Awareness Week. They loved chatting with family and friends whilst raising money for a very worthy cause, which was a highlight of the week's activities. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who attended and supported us throughout the morning.
