Activities at Hafan-Y-Coed Care Home
We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
Marie Spires
I'm Marie, the lead activities coordinator for Hafan Y Coed. I have been the activities coordinator for nearly three years and am passionate about encouraging the wellbeing of our residents. Ensuring all abilities are catered for in a bespoke schedule is paramount to their individual wellbeing needs. I am joined by Clare and Sue who also help to create a life enrichment program suitable for all communities.

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Happy New Year!
Happy New year from all at Hafan Y Coed who enjoyed a new year’s party with entertainment, a Buffet prepared by our chef and a New Year’s tipple of choice!
Christmas Fete
A fun packed Xmas day was enjoyed with our Winter Fete. Residents, families and friends come together and we even enjoyed a special visit from Mr and Mrs Claus.
Our 'Santa's Workshop' Float
We decided to showcase Hafan Y Coed in our very own Float with a Santa’s workshop theme in this year’s town Christmas Carnival. Residents and staff came up with the theme and all helped create the final result.
Pumpkins!
We have enjoyed a range of activities in keeping with our Autumn theme. We have been sewing Pumpkin soft decorations, visiting pumpkin farms and flower arranging with Pumpkins! Who knew there were so many things you could do with Pumpkins?
Oktoberfest at Hafan Y Coed
We enjoyed a fun filled Oktoberfest themed quiz night. Complete with German fancy dress, German Beer, German foods and music. A great evening was had by all!
Sports Day
We recently enjoyed our summer sports day and welcomed staff, residents and families to join in the fun. The egg and spoon race, sack race and relay were some of the races everyone took part in and the residents favourite was the tug of war race when the rope snapped, they found it hilarious
