Activities at Cumberland Grange Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Gosia Maliga

Activities Coordinator

I have been in the care sector since 2008, and I also have a degree in teaching. I am here to arrange and run a varied range of activities for our residents to take part in, keep them entertained and enrich their lives. From flower arranging, quizzes, arts and crafts to movies in the cinema, I try to make sure there is something for everyone here to take part in, and tailor events to suit each resident.

Life at Cumberland Grange Care Home

January's Employee of the Month

EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH

Our absolutely brilliant hostess Jenna!

Congratulations on being our employee of the month in January.

Since Jenna has been with us she has made a huge impact here at Cumberland Grange. Putting our residents at the forefront of everything that she does! Loved by all of our residents and staff. We are very lucky to have her.

A visit from a bunny, a ferret and a reptile!

Yesterday our residents had a lovely morning having lots cuddles from these beautiful animals!

Thanks to Troy once again for coming in and putting a smile on our residents faces.

We all had a great morning together. Many of our residents grew up with these animals so it was lovely for them to be able to spend some time with them!

NATIONAL CROISSANT DAY

What better way than to start the day by honouring National Croissant Day with a variety of different flavoured croissants!

The start of our Cumberland Grange choir

Music is so good for the soul, and we all love a good singalong so this is the start of our choir. Every Monday at 3pm on Memory Lane we will sing a long to some of our favourite songs!

A special thank you to Edward, husband of one of our wonderful residents who comes in to play the keyboard and has a huge impact on our home.

WINNIE THE POOH

Did you know that Winnie the Pooh Day is actually a national day? A day to celebrate the Birthday of the Winnie the Pooh author A.A. Milne.

We all love Winnie the Pooh, so we couldn’t resist coming together with our much loved teddy’s and our favourite stories. We shared memories, reminisced and enjoyed wonderfully decorated cupcakes (thanks chef!).

Nothing but love and great conversation!

In the words of Eeyore, “It never hurts to keep looking for sunshine.”

What a glorious morning!

It may bit chilly out, but we got the bus warmed up and went for a drive to Dartmoor this morning to take in the fresh air and the views.

We had a truly wholesome time together and saw an abundance of wildlife, including Dartmoor ponies freely roaming.

We love our mini bus adventures!
