Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Dee Tugluer

Activities Coordinator

My name is Dee Tugluer and I am the Activities Coordinator for Braeburn Lodge. I have been working in the care sector for almost a year and half. Prior to my job in the home I worked in the design sector and marketing for over twenty years. I also took a short break from my career to take care of my children and did so some volunteer work for my local community, schools and charities.

I really enjoy working for Braeburn as I have built a good relationship with all our residents. I love to make everyone feel happy and content, and get excited to plan and implement a beneficial Life Enrichment programme for our home.

Holy Communion

Holy Communion

Rev Linda Visited the residents at Braeburn Lodge today and gave Holy Communion and Blessings to all. We ended the visit with a lovely sharing of histories where we all learned something new about each other.

Le Boule Competition

Le Boule Competition

The competition heated up as we battled for the title of Le Boule Champion. There we several moments of incredulity as the would-be winners were knocked out of place at the last minute and there were some truly outstanding throws that had the balls touching!

Trip Out for Coffee

Trip Out for Coffee

The residents from Braeburn Lodge recently took a trip out for coffee as there was a little break in the bad weather! The residents enjoyed the winter sun and traveled to the 'Inside Out' shop for some coffee and biscuits.

Valentines Tree

Valentines Tree

The residents from Braeburn Lodge recently started making their Valentine's Tree. There was lots of glitter, pink and many hearts flying around as everyone in the home got into the spirit of love!

Cheese and Wine Night with a Twist

Cheese and Wine Night with a Twist

Braeburn Lodge welcomes their new manager Kate Kay with a celebratory Cheese and Wine evening. Residents, families, friends, and local group representatives turned out on a cold windy night to welcome Kate Kay our new General Manager to Braeburn Lodge. Kate has been in nursing for nineteen years but since joining the Care Home sector four years ago she is a devotee, dedicated to providing quality care that can transform the lives of the elderly. Kate quoted “I want to ensure that Braeburn Lodge is the very best care facility in the area”. Kate was able to speak with all the residents and families. Whilst everyone enjoyed a lovely relaxed evening sharing a glass of wine and of course the obligatory cup of tea or coffee. The evening was a resounding success, with a great welcome being received by Kate from the residents and families.

Pancake Day

Pancake Day

Braeburn’s residents enjoyed pancakes today as we celebrated Shrove Tuesday. Rev Linda offered her hand to help serve up the delicious treats and there wasn’t a single lost pancake on the floor or ceiling when we were done!
