Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Dee Tugluer

Activities Coordinator

My name is Dee Tugluer and I am the Activities Coordinator for Braeburn Lodge. I have been working in the care sector for almost a year and half. Prior to my job in the home I worked in the design sector and marketing for over twenty years. I also took a short break from my career to take care of my children and did so some volunteer work for my local community, schools and charities.

I really enjoy working for Braeburn as I have built a good relationship with all our residents. I love to make everyone feel happy and content, and get excited to plan and implement a beneficial Life Enrichment programme for our home.

Balloon Bounce!

Balloon Bounce!

The residents on Pippin Lane worked up a bit of a sweat with this group game. Everybody pitched in to stop the balloon from reaching the floor and we all had a good work out!

Trip to Waterside Garden Centre

Trip to Waterside Garden Centre

Today we braved the rain and took a trip to our local garden centre with our volunteer Lou Crowson. We were on a mission to buy some plants for a special occasion and after a long wonder we were ready for our warm drinks and millionaires shortbread. We had to have a photograph with this handsome fella before leaving, how could we resist that face!

Our One year Anniversary Party

Our One year Anniversary Party

To celebrate one year of being open, we held a party and invited past and present residents, families and people from the community. Market Deeping’s very own Mayor kindly gave us a speech complementing our wonderful home. With music from the Harp and a lively atmosphere, guests and residents couldn’t keep from dancing. What a great afternoon we all had!

Flower Arranging at Braeburn Lodge

The ladies got busy helping make our centre pieces for our one year anniversary party and put together some stunning arrangements that really completed the party! Who knew the residents at Braeburn Lodge had such flower arranging experts!

Zoolab comes to Braeburn Lodge

Zoolab comes to Braeburn Lodge

We invited family and friends, residents and volunteers for this special guest visit. We had a Ranger come to introduce to us a wonderful selection of creatures in this creature-handling experience. Prickles the hedgehog was a favourite with a brilliant hoover impression as she gobbled down her mealworms. Joining Prickles was Colin the corn snake, Rosie the tarantula and Princess the rat. There was even a tree frog who demonstrated her brilliant sticky skills by sticking to the wall! There were a lot of questions from the audience and everybody had a fantastic time.
