Activities at Braeburn Lodge Care Home

Our dedicated activities team are constantly dreaming up new and wonderful ways to support and stimulate the residents we look after. From trips to crafts, parties to skittles, musical performances and quizzes, we include something for everyone and pride ourselves on including everyone into the fun. We have a brilliant team of volunteers who help us to deliver more trips, support us at events and pop in for a cup of tea and chat. We have pet therapy at least once per week (sometimes twice!) and we take advantage of every school break by holding large scale events that we can invite families with children to. We have been developing ties with our neighbours since we first opened and thanks to this, we have successfully brought together our residents with local churches, choirs, Brownies groups, and schools. Whatever your interests are, here at Braeburn, there's something for everyone.

Dee Tugluer

Activities Coordinator

My name is Dee Tugluer and I am the Activities Coordinator for Braeburn Lodge. I have been working in the care sector for almost a year and half. Prior to my job in the home I worked in the design sector and marketing for over twenty years. I also took a short break from my career to take care of my children and did so some volunteer work for my local community, schools and charities.

I really enjoy working for Braeburn as I have built a good relationship with all our residents. I love to make everyone feel happy and content, and get excited to plan and implement a beneficial Life Enrichment programme for our home.

Braeburn Lodge is supporting two local students here on work experience from The Deepings School.

Lilly is working alongside our chef, Sonic, in the kitchen – she has made some amazing cakes for the residents, which are now being affectionately called ‘Lilly’s Cakes’

Adam is working with Mark Johnson, our Head of Maintenance. Adam has been busy in the garden planting some more flowers and tidying it in preparation for the residents to enjoy in the summer.

Another Braeburn Bonanza!

Another Braeburn Bonanza!

Rose and Beverly were kind enough to put on a show for the residents, which had everything, from karaoke to dancing - and even quiz questions with prizes for the lucky winners! We had a fair number of residents at the microphone, and we were heard from downstairs with our very lively “Oi’s!" in our rendition of 'Lambeth Walk'.

Trudi Mason wakes up Braeburn!

We woke up to a dreary, wet day after our 3 day stretch of bright sunshine, but luckily, Trudi came along and brought the sun out for us on the dance floor, with her brilliant singing and lively personality. There were several dancers and twice as many singers - and we turned this raining, miserable day into one of laughing, fun and dancing! A big thank you to our two volunteers, Lynn and Ros, who provided the added entertainment of a little dance off to 'Blue Suede Shoes' - those were some funky moves that were too fast to be caught on camera!

Summer at Braeburn

Summer at Braeburn

Summer finally came to Market Deeping, so naturally, we all jumped at the chance to get out and enjoy it while it lasted! The courtyard was busy with residents all day, and we all caught some of the sunshine. We had a large crowd for this gorgeous Monday afternoon - and we all just sat back, relaxed and nattered on all day whilst sunbathing.

Off to the Market

Off to the Market

We just couldn’t miss a chance to get out while the sun was shining, so we jumped on the bus to have a walk around the market and to enjoy some delectable coffees in the café on the square, Cinnamon. We bumped into one of our nurses while we were walking around and one of the residents was recognised by the owner of the cake stall as a regular at his Kings Lynn stall over 2 years ago! We couldn’t end the trip without saying hello to a gorgeous Chihuahua and giving it a bit of fuss and love.

Out for Lunch

Out for Lunch

Well, it’s official: 3 months in and our monthly lunch at the Boundary is a regular occurrence. We have very much enjoyed getting to know the staff here and we always receive excellent service and amazing food! It’s nice to have a change of routine once in a while and we really enjoy tucking into some fish and chips by the riverside with a glass of something tasty. And, of course, who could forget the delicious desserts?
