Activities at Woodhorn Park Care Home

Activities make up the most important part of all our days at Woodhorn park, so we ensure a variety of social events are available that reflect the interests of all the people we support. In our Memory Lane community, we have group conversations and regularly reminiscence about past experiences, which is something that people living with dementia really enjoy. Many residents love gardening, baking, outings, pet care and gentle exercise, which we provide, along with many other wholesome activities, as it is essential that life at Woodhorn Park is fun and active.

Active Minds

Active Minds

Four residents enjoyed a local community event organised by Mind Active. The weather was a little overcast, however, it did not spoil the day. Pat, Dennis, Jackie and Nesta all tucked into the picnic, which was followed up with ice cream in our local Hirst Park.

Celebrating Success

Celebrating Success

Congratulations to Senior Carer, Maggie Land, who recently received her NVQ Level 3 qualification. We are all so proud of her hard work. Well done, Maggie!

The Allotment Project

The Allotment Project

Four residents enjoyed being part of The Allotment Project, which is run by local charity, Mind Active. As you can see, Ron, Iris, Jack and Diane had a short respite from the sun during a thunderstorm. It was exciting and lunch was even more enjoyable.

Fish & Chip Day

Fish & Chip Day

Delorus, Diane and Lilian enjoyed fresh fish and chips, followed by ice cream whilst sitting watching the world go past at South Beach, Blyth Harbour. The day was gloriously hot and the sea air was lovely.

Knit & Natter

Knit & Natter

Iris and Margaret enjoyed the therapeutic ‘click click click of needles’ whilst putting the world to rights. Iris attempted to teach the staff to knit, however, "they were all fingers and thumbs."

Doll Therapy

Pictures speak a thousand words; residents really enjoy the comforts that doll therapy can bring.
