Activities at The Warren Care Home

Here at The Warren, our activities team are always very busy thinking of new ways to keep residents active, both physically and mentally. We have regular trips out in the minibus, both locally and further a field, including the London Eye and the Thames River Trip), at least once a week during the summer months. We also enjoy visits from PAT dogs and have professional exercise sessions and live entertainment, which are always popular.

Kirstie Tifrani

Activities Coordinator

My name is Kirstie and I am lucky enough to be the Activities Coordinator here at The Warren.

I have many years of experience working in care homes in Activities and leisure and lifestyle roles.

I love being part of The Warren team and supporting our residents to live their best lives with fun, interesting, and varied activities available every week. I always feel that the importance of residents' input into our weekly planner is important giving all residents equal opportunity to explore new interests as well as keeping up with previous interests and hobbies.

Kelling & Sheringham Trip

One of our trips this year was to Kelling Tearooms, which was followed by a stop off at Sheringham for tea and cake.

Our Little Furry Friends

Our Little Furry Friends

Here at The Warren, we have had the opportunity to hatch out some ducklings to the delight of the residents. For this, we are very grateful to our home manager, Barbara Ellis.

VE Day at The Warren

VE Day at The Warren

Friday 6th May saw The Warren celebrate VE Day. The proceedings started at 2:00pm, with a lot of the staff dressing up in the period's clothing style. The arrival of the military vehicles and a civilian car (a Wolesley 6/80 in gleaming black), in addition to Giovanni, marked the beginning of the afternoon's entertainment. Giovanni played the accordion, and everyone was singing the songs of the forties, with a little help from song sheets for those who were a bit too young to remember them. This was all followed by tea and spam sandwiches. The home was decorated in red, white and blue, as would be expected.

We had an assortment of clothes, from the Land Army uniform to an R.A.F. pilot's outfit, as well as civilian, American Forces and even a queen costume.

One of the residents wore her medals for the occasion - and was very proud to do so (so she should be).

Live Well Café

Live Well Café

We were very pleased here at The Warren to have our 'Live Well Café' opened by Chloe Smith MP and Councillor Kenneth Leggett MBE on Friday 22nd April.

We will be holding open afternoons for the 'Live Well Café' every third Friday of the month, where activities will take place for everyone to join in.

On her arrival, Chloe remarked that, ''whenever I visit The Warren, it's always something good,'' and, likewise, when Councillor Leggett left, he said that he and his wife would pop in often to join in the afternoons of activities, tea and cakes.

It was a very successful afternoon with a buffet tea and celebration cake. There was also a surprise, but very welcome guest: Carol from Gordon Barber Funeral Directors.

Celebrating 10 Years of Service

Celebrating 10 Years of Service

Here at The Warren we were very pleased to present Jane Jones with her 10 year service award on April 12th 2016.

Jane says that she has seen a lot of changes in that time and that a lot of people come and go. Jane tries to make everyone's (including staff) day a better one and always has a smile. She is still enjoying her time at The Warren and says she still has a few years left in her yet, but doesn't know where the time has gone and that some of the residents have been here longer than she has.

Forever in Our Memories

Forever in Our Memories

The Warren are pleased to say that we have now started a memorial garden for those that have left us for a better place and we will be holding a memorial service once a year in August.
