Activities at Southerndown Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Activities Co-ordinator

I have worked at Southerndown since 2013. I enjoy providing various activities for our residents with the team, such as gardening groups, trips out in the mini bus around the Cotswolds, quiz days and entertainment performances. Amongst the many things we enjoy doing, part of my role within the home is to ensure all residents are provided the purpose in life to fulfil day to day stimulation, whether that be together, or creating individual activity to those that prefer.

Life at Southerndown Care Home

,

Hadsham Farm

We were invited to Hadsham Farm to see the little baby lambs. It was so nice to spend time feeding the newborn lambs and holding the little chicks. It really was such a special day and bought back so many happy memories for our residents.

,

Choir

We are so pleased to be reading about our very own Southerndown Choir in the local news. We were recently approached and asked if we would mind being featured in April’s edition of Chipping Norton News as our choir practices every week. Residents were really pleased to read about themselves in their local news and it has been the talk of the home since.

,

Easter

Happy Easter from all of us at Southerndown. We have been busy with Easter arts and crafts and outdoor Easter egg hunts making the most of the glorious weather. We have had such a lovely weekend and are looking forward to tucking into our Easter eggs.

Garden Party

Our amazing carers arranged a beautiful tea party in the lovely spring weather we have been enjoying just lately. Julie and Sasha pulled out all the stops for a fun filled afternoon. We really like to make the most of the weather, and we could get used to the alfresco dining.

,

Gardening Club

Gardening club here at Southerndown has been extremely busy over the past couple of days. We have been tidying, weeding, and planting seeds, bulbs and spring flowers around the home. It has been wonderful to be out in the fresh air, and we are so lucky to have so many keen gardeners amongst us.

Spring is Here

We have a spring in our step her this weekend at Southerndown. With all the beautiful weather we couldn’t resist going for a walk around the grounds. Spring is definitely on its way and it’s amazing to be out in the fresh air with the warmth of the sun on our skin.
