Activities at Hunters Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Ben Sandall

Activities Coordinator

Hello I am Ben and I am the Activities Coordinator at Hunters.  I started working at Hunters as part of the hospitality team, but when a vacancy came up on the activities team I jumped at the opportunity.  I have seen how important a varied activities programme is and the team ensure we offer something for everyone including regular past times.

Farm On Tour

What a fantastic afternoon at Hunters today! We welcomed the wonderful The Good Day Farm - On tour to the home and the animals definitely stole the show. Our residents got meet a whole host of farmyard favourites and everyone left with big smiles on their faces. “Orange” the sheep even popped inside to meet some of the residents that couldn’t make it outside. Thank you so much to Laura, Emily and Izzy for bringing these amazing animals to meet us and to “Honor” the dog for being so well behaved. You’re all welcome back anytime!

Fun In The Sun

Finally some sun! At Hunters we like to make the most of the better weather and today was no exception. First some walks around the grounds this morning, as friends enjoyed getting out for some fresh air. Then games on the lawn this afternoon, under the shade of the trees as the temperature soared.

Summer Fete

Last month Hunter’s held our Summer Fete and it could not have gone better! Fantastic entertainment, food, car exhibits and stalls that left everyone smiling. Thank you to Strungout Ukuleles and Ragged Old Morris for keeping us all entertained and thank you BMW Brotherhood and the Cirencester Car Club for your amazing displays. Finally of course a huge thank you to everyone that came along to support us. So much hard work from our team went into making the  fete a success, and it was so special to see so many people enjoying themselves. Even the weather played it’s part! Most importantly our residents had a fantastic time, enjoying the sunshine and wonderful atmosphere with family and friends.

Valuation Morning

Last week we held a valuation morning at Hunters. A huge thank you to the fantastic Lindsey and Niall from The Cotswold Auction House in Cirencester. First they gave us an insight into the amazing work they do, including a few stories of some of the stranger things brought into their sale room. Then they helped value and give some information on a few of our residents own items. It really was fascinating hearing about the history of some of the precious belongings on show and everyone had a great time.

Walks with Hawks

Another fantastic visit from Clare from Walks with Hawks at Hunters. A real favourite with the residents, Clare gives an incredible chance for them to get up and close with some beautiful birds. Everyone came away smiling and many residents were asking when they would be coming back again!

French Lessons for Hunters' Residents

It was a beautiful sunny afternoon and Hunters’ residents spent it outside enjoying a French lesson from two of our residents Don and Margaret.  This lovely couple are fluent retired French teachers and what great teachers they are, it was a fun filled afternoon for all.
