Activities at Harper Fields Care Home

There is always something to do here at Harper Fields and always someone to assist the residents in any activity they wish to take part in. We have entertainers come into the home to sing and play instruments on a weekly basis, as well as visits from PAT dogs, hairdressers, massage therapists and nail technicians to pamper those who live here. Residents' spiritual needs are taken into account at Harper Fields; we have regular services from the Catholic and Methodist church, in addition to the Church of England, and for our non-religious residents, we have a weekly calming and peaceful ‘mindfulness and meditation group,’ which is very popular, especially for those living with dementia. Residents often like to attend cinema evenings to watch their favourite films on the big screen (complete with sweets and popcorn), or develop new skills at our computer classes, where they can learn how to Skype their families in other countries. Our activities are tailored to suit the individual interests and capabilities of residents and our specialised equipment enables those we support to enjoy everything we have to offer.

U3a Swing Afternoon Tea Party

As a way of saying Thank you to the Fabulous U3a band members, we invited them in for a delicious afternoon tea with us. What a surprise we got when they turned up with their instruments and said they had each been rehearsing to play a solo performance for us. Our outstanding hospitality team served a delicious array of sandwiches, homemade sausage rolls, cakes, Jam & cream scones. Tea & coffee were served then a cheeky prosecco and a few beers for everyone. I really do think a picture tells a great story and this fun photo brings out the happiness in us all. A truly splendid day for everyone.

Harper fields ‘Summer Fete’

Howdy Partner! We had an absolutely amazing day at this year’s Summer fete.  We had Country & western singing with the fabulous ‘ANDANTE’, We had cowboys, giant garden games for the children, bbq pulled pork rolls, ‘Gin & fizz stand, lots and lots of local hand-made, home-grown, hand-baked stalls.  The weather wasn’t very kind to us but that didn’t stop the fun at Harper fields. It was so good to have the support of the local community. A superb day was had by all.

Cheeky shopping trip

Harper fields very own mini bus was in full swing this week, as the sun came out so did we!

Some of our lovely ladies on our Kempton residential community had asked to go on a shopping trip. So we gladly obliged. While browsing around the clothes shops and treating ourselves, we stopped at the coffee shop. Delicious cappuccino’s and juicy do-nuts for everyone. Joan spoiled herself to a nice new jumper, as you can see from her gorgeous smile, she really enjoyed her day out.

Cats Protection

Everyone at Harper fields loves animals, so we thought we would reach out to the cats protection and see if they would come and do a little ‘show & tell’ for us.  Cats protection helps hundreds of  needy cats & kittens including finding new homes for 250 to 350 cats & kittens per year. We learnt so much about adoption & fostering our feline friends. Hopefully one of the visitors on the day were able to adopt their very own cat or kitten.  Wendy Harris, coordinator of the Coventry branch said. “I really enjoyed meeting your lovely residents, looking forward to the Christmas Fete.”

Herstory of Mayfair

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair.  The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

History of Wall's icecream

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event in celebration on National Ice Cream Day. Wall’s team took us on a great journey through history, sharing fascinating details about the brand since its launch in 1922. We learned about major innovations such as the introduction of Mr Whippy, Cornetto, Viennetta, Twister, and Carte d'Or.

Residents were treated to a singalong to Cornetto classic ads, an interactive quiz about fun Wall’s facts and best-of-all, an ice-cream tasting session. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our ice-cream lovers.
