Activities at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Every day we run different activities throughout our home. The activities are designed and adapted to each individuals personal needs. The activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate the people we care for and also to enhance their life skills and feelings of purpose and self-worth. The activities encourage interaction on a one to one basis, in small groups, in large groups and some are designed for the whole home including staff to be involved in.
We are registered with the National Activity Providers Association (NAPA) which ensures we are able to achieve and continually progress to enhance the quality of life for those we support in the home. We provide entertainers such as singers, musicians, magicians, puppeteers, poets and dancers. We also have regular exercise classes and arts and craft classes. Relatives and visitors will be able to see what me make in these classes on display around the home. We have regular trips out on the mini bus to visit garden centres, enjoy high tea, visit the butterfly farm and spend the day at the zoo with a picnic. We encourage the local community, schools, colleges and relatives to come and join us for activities, tea and cake and to visit to share their skills as much as possible.
Staff from across the home are always willing to help and share their knowledge and skills across a whole range of activities we have had everything from carers preforming Bollywood style dancing to cooking classes from the chef. We feel activities are a vital part of the residents lives to ensure they are stimulated mentally and entertained.

Hi my name is Rose and I am the activities coordinator at Cubbington Mill!
I have been working in care since I was 17 and very passionate about my role, always trying to do bigger & better. I am one of Cubbington Mills Dementia Champions. I'm very privileged to work with the wonderful people and residents at Barchester's Cubbington Mill and hope we all make some lovely memories together! I LOVE to find out about residents interests & hobbies through tools like the “Getting To Know Me Booklets”.

Life at Cubbington Mill Care Home
Residents meets the PM at No 10!
On John Farringdon’s 110th birthday his local MP, Jeremy Wright, visited him at Cubbington Mill care home in Cubbington. John told Jeremy that he would love to have the opportunity to visit Parliament but felt it would be impossible now.
Behind the scenes and working with the team at Cubbington Mill, Jeremy Wright set to work making arrangements for John to go to Parliament and watch Prime Minister’s Questions. Unbeknownst to John, he not only arranged for John to meet the Speaker prior to PM’s Questions but he also arranged to John to go to No. 10!
World Children's Day
Celebrated annually on November 20, World Children’s Day is supported by Unicef and aims to help save children’s lives and defend their rights in 190 countries around the world.
The staff, residents and relatives got into the spirit of the day by receiving visits from their children, grandchildren and pre-schoolers from Butterflies Day Nursery enjoying childhood sweets and treats, remembering how their childhoods differ from their grandchildren’s and children today, listening to staff tell stories about how they spent their childhoods and to finish nursery rhymes. They loved remembering all the positives from times gone by, thinking about how much things have changed and learning about each other’s experiences.
Cubbington Mill Celebrates 30 Years
On Friday we celebrated a fashionably late anniversary of the place we all call Home.
The party started with the extremely talented and lovely Annette from Creative Mojo Ltd. Residents painted a festive postbox showstopper.
We stopped for lunch followed by a performance from Dave Dixon with star of the show, Resident Deborah who was formerly an employee at Cubbington with members of staff who still work with us now!
We then couldn’t miss the opportunity to award Night Nurse Jay her 20 years service gifts!
To finish off the day we were fortunate enough to catch up over a cuppa with members of the treasured community, Princethorpe Sixth Form students, friends & relatives even our private physiotherapist Amy arrived on her day off! With the cheeky, fluffy and calm The Alpaca Pals.
Cheers for to the next 30 years & the team at Cubbington that made the day possible for all the residents to have fun and be involved.
Possibly Barchester’s biggest poppy?
Most definitely the oldest man within Barchester and Warwickshire. 2nd oldest man in the UK
Cheryl, (creator of the artwork), a resident at Cubbington Mill said: “It is very important that we keep the memories of those who fought alive and that we also think about those involved in conflicts around the world today, especially my hero my Dad, who was in the Navy!”
As well as marking Armistice Day by wearing poppies and observing the national two minute silence on Sunday, residents took part in therapeutic activities, such as making poppy displays, listening to old wartime songs, reading war poems and creating poppy window art.
Residents lend their ears to Live Music Performance
Activity Coordinator, Rose Tucker said, “Our residents and staff had a wonderful afternoon singing along with the wonderful performers from ‘mini concerts’. We do our best to provide a wide range of entertainment at Cubbington Mill as part of the lifestyle enrichment programme for residents, and this was one of our favourites!”
One resident said “I haven’t heard some of these songs in many years. The classics never go out of style! I hope the D-Day Dollies return soon.”
Our Gardens have been awarded Gold Status!
Staff and residents at Cubbington Mill care home in Cubbington are extremely proud that their garden has beaten all the competition to scoop the Gold award in the 2023 Leamington in Bloom competition, Businesses category. Judges from the Leamington in Bloom committee paid a surprise visit to the home’s garden and declared it the best of the best in the Businesses category.
General Manager, Laura Russell, said: “This is such a fantastic achievement, to be named the best garden in the whole of Leamington – everyone at the home is so proud. Our Head of Maintenance, Waldemar, and our volunteers work so hard on our beautiful garden, they always go the extra mile to ensure they have done the best possible job for our residents who love to sit in the garden in the warmer months and admire it throughout the year.”
