Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Another Jean Birthday!

This week lovely Jean also celebrated her birthday, in Collingtree Park style, with a freshly baked cake by chef Tamara, and an afternoon karaoke in the lounge with staff and residents. Jean said "I really didn't need all this fuss, but if it means we all get a slice of cake then it was worth it".

Jean not only enjoyed celebrating with us, but enjoyed a visit from her good friend Evelyn too. Happy birthday Jean from your Collingtree family.

National Scrabble Day

Today we celebrated with a number of word games on both floors, which were enjoyed by all residents, particularly Pam, who said "I used to be part of a Scrabble Club, so it's great to get my brain working and be involved with this event!".

We started with our weekly word game, then progressed to play a quick game of scrabble before lunch - of course Pam won! How many words can you make from 'Nightingale'?

Happy Birthday 'Jean'

Birthday girl; Jean enjoyed a pamper session to have her hair and make up done in the morning, ready for her afternoon tea party with her friends and staff. Chef Tamara said, "We like to find out every residents' favourite flavours and fillings, so that their cake is exactly what they like for their special day".

Jean said "Thank you everyone, it's lovely to be spoilt". Happy Birthday from your Collingtree Park family!

As part of our continued community engagement program, home manager; Nikki Allen had the pleasure of hand delivering some homemade cupcakes and goodies bags to the team at Turn Furlong Specialist Care Centre in Kingsthorpe.

Turn Furlong is a Nursing home, Rehabilitation and Residential home specialising in the provision of respite care for older persons living with dementia, physical disabilities or those requiring treatment of disease, disorder or injury.

Introducing... Colin!

Recently, we adopted a cute and cuddly addition at Collingtree Park - his name is Colin.

Colin was adopted to support with our 'Armchair Travel' a way to transport residents to parts of the world they may have visited before, or may be interested in learning more about.

To help Colin to settle in, our Daisy Lane residents took him on a tour of our wonderful gardens, where they introduced him to the neighbouring lambs, the beautifully bloomed tulips and of course each other. We are looking forward to many adventures with Colin across the globe as friends, family members and staff take him on their travels!

Day Trip to The Chester House Estate

What a lovely afternoon at The Chester House Estate we've had! On arrival, we were greeted by the Easter Bunny, and directed where we could meet this years lambs.

We had a delightful chat with Emily, Katie and Kim, who told us all about the lambs and goats usual behaviours and what to expect when feeding them.

After feeding some very hungry lambs, we took a tour around the museum, where we learnt about the Iron and Roman ages and how Chester House was established.

Margaret said "It's been so interesting to learn about how such a wonderful place comes about, and very informative. I especially enjoyed learning about the population moving to the area and how that affected that areas development".

We had a great time and can't wait to come back!
