Activities at Collingtree Park Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Skye Summerton

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Skye and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Collingtree Park care home. My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities. We offer something for everyone, including arts and crafts, games and live entertainment including visits to places of interest in the local area. I love to provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need a little more support.

Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular meetings with family and friends I can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining the Collingtree Park community.

We are an animal friendly care home with a resident cat called 'Bella' and daily visits from our residents' family dogs. We understand the power of PET Therapy and welcome animals of all sizes from mini beasts to the quarterly Alpaca visits a local farm.

We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Happy Birthday 'Pamela'

Over the weekend we celebrated the beautiful Pamela's birthday!

Having already been visited in the week by a pair of ponies and her granddaughter and great-granddaughter who crowned her 'Birthday Queen', receiving a home made cake tailored to her preferences courtesy of Chef and the care team singing ‘Happy Birthday’ topped the actual day!

Happy birthday lovely lady from your fellow residents and all the staff at Collingtree Park.

Attending Community 'Mature Drivers Show'

Driving is an important part of our everyday life and Northamptonshire Safer Roads Alliance (NSRA) are keen to help to keep mature drivers driving safer for longer.

Today we joined the team at The Rushden Goods Shed for the ‘Mature Driver’s Roadshow’ as they covered all aspects of driving aimed at drivers 60+

It was wonderful to meet so many new people and have the opportunity to invite them to our beautiful homes for a ‘Tea and Tour’.

Our home managers were on hand to answer any questions about later life care within Collingtree Park Care Home - Barchester Healthcare and Claremont Parkway Care Home - Barchester Healthcare

Our Third 'Jean' Birthday!

Happiest of birthdays to our dear Jean, who has had a wonderful day celebrating her 92nd birthday with us today!

Today Jean has enjoyed a visit from Lollipop Pony Parties as well as a piano performance from our friend Andy Salter! She also received lovely flowers and gifts from her sons to celebrate.

Jean said "I don't feel 92, I feel 192, but at least I'm still beautiful!".

Jean then treated us to a rendition of Happy Birthday and enjoyed performing for all of her friends at Collingtree Park, followed by a well earned slice of birthday cake and a cup of tea afterwards. We look forward to celebrating again next year!

Enjoying Our Beautiful Garden

Barrie, Jean and Barbara enjoyed gardening club this week, choosing places for new plants and flowers to be placed in our fabulous garden. Tulips were definitely the favourite, however Jean was particularly impressed with how the wheelbarrow of pansies had grown since our last club!

She said "Gardening is great because you see something from start to finish, and when the flowers wilt you know they will come back again if you take care of them".

Gardener, Andy, said "It's great to see the residents enjoying the garden, and even better when they lend a helping hand too".

A Steve Duet is Formed

A huge thank you to Steve Carmel, who performed for our residents on Bluebell Lane this week. Steve had lots of singers at Collingtree Park, with Jean and Barbara offering to join him on tour!

He also had a lot of fun with resident Steve, who enjoyed harmonising on some of his favourite songs too. Thanks for joining us Steve, we look forward to singing with you again soon!

Collingtree Carpet Bowls Champions

This week we had a great turn out for carpet bowls, with lots of new faces - all smiling of course. Our reigning champions; Mary and Nanette had competition this week, as Roy came to play with his eye on the prize. It was a tense game, but in the end everyone enjoyed a bar of chocolate and a cup of tea.
