Activities at Cheverton Lodge Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians, as well as art therapy, flower arranging, Exercise to music and quizzes. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as they can, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join in with activities and events as often as they can.

Life at Cheverton Lodge Care Home

Pet therapy at Cheverton Lodge !

Walton's a star !!

We had a VIP come to visit Cheverton Lodge Care Community. Walton spent time with residents and it seems he enjoyed the music while residents played Musical Bingo, patiently waiting for a treat!

What a huge hit he was!

Stroking a pet has been shown to lower blood pressure and the heart rate, bringing a calming and relaxing effect but most of all pets bring joy and love and there was lots of that. Walton is a peaceful 12 years old golden retriever and we loved having his visit.

Thank you Walton, we can't wait to see you again.

Let's Connect!

Let's connect.

Designed for the people we care for in mind, Getting to Know Me follows a similar concept to Snakes and Ladders but is built around questions.

Making new friends as an adult can be a challenge but Getting to Know Me creates an open and fun space to do just that. Players take turns to ask questions or share memories and it's been particularly useful for residents that have dementia or memory problems in helping them connect with their family and other residents.

International women's Day!

Residents at Cheverton Lodge Care home  marked International Women’s Day (IWD) on March 8th by spending the day celebrating the achievements of wonderful trail-blazing women throughout history.

Residents took part in discussions about remarkable British women who have shaped history including Agatha Christie, Queen Elizabeth II, Emmeline Pankhurst, Helen Sharman, the first British astronaut and Nancy Astor, politician, the first British woman seated as a member of the parliament. They talked about the important women in their own lives and celebrated the achievements of their fellow residents.

Scrabble Club!

Residents get their spelling hats on for a friendly game of Scrabble!

Residents at Cheverton Lodge enjoyed a friendly game of Scrabble and challenged Home Manager Earl Elliott at their Scrabble Club this week.

Playing board games offers many benefits including stimulating the brain and allowing for social interaction, which encourages bonding with other residents.

Staff at the home said "Clubs are really starting to take off at Cheverton, and it's truly lovely to see new friendships blossoming as residents get to know one another."

Let's Connect!

Cheverton Lodge in partnership with Whitehall Park School in Islington, join together to celebrate "Place2Be's Children's Mental Health Week", helping to make a difference to the lives of children and young people across the UK. This year's theme is Let's Connect.

Residents and students had a lovely time sharing ball game memories and songs. Looking forward for their next visit!
