Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jo & Julie

Activities Coordinators

Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Macmillan Coffee Morning

Our Macmillan Coffee Morning was a huge success, not only with the residents and their families, but also with the local school children, who are involved with some our pen-pal scheme. They all enjoyed homemade cakes and we raised a total of £103.

Autumn Table

Autumn Table

Residents had fun making an autumn-themed table, which made the foyer seem even more warm and welcoming than it already was!

Oktoberfest Preparations

Oktoberfest Preparations

On 24th October, we are hosting an Oktoberfest beer festival, and residents wanted to brew their own beer for the occasion.

Summer Fête

We held our Summer Fête on August 18th and everyone had a great time. The weather wasn’t very good, but lots of people from the community came to support us anyway.

We had lots of stalls, games, a BBQ, and Beauty and the Beast also paid us a visit. But the highlight of the day was when our General Manager, Lyn, went into the stocks; there was no shortage of people paying to soak her! She was a brilliant sport about it, though.

The weeks of preparation were worth it; we raised over £700! We want to buy a sensory table for the residents – so the fundraising continues!

,

Independence Day

We celebrated Independence Day by having a BBQ, karaoke and a country and western theme, where residents and staff dressed up. Residents also wanted to bake an Independence Day cake, which turned out amazing.

,

Ladies Ascot Day

Staff and residents enjoyed a day at the races with Ladies Day at Ascot. The hospitality team provided a spread of strawberries and cream paired with a glass of prosecco- it was a real treat!
