Activities at Awel-Y-Mor Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Jo & Julie

Activities Coordinators

Awel-Y-Mor's activities team consists of three Activities Coordinators, each having a specialist unique role within the group, including work in the multi-sensory concept, as well as organising days out, trips to sporting events and pop concerts, and arranging themed days. Jo has been with us for over ten years, beginning her Barchester career as a Carer, and Julie joined us in 2018.

We had a great time celebrating Burns Night with residents, staff and families. On offer was cullen – a fish soup, haggis with crusty rolls, Cranachan – a creamy whiskey flavoured pudding, shortbread, whiskey and plenty of Scottish music.

Sensory Table

Sensory Table

After months of planning and waiting, our sensory tables arrived. Thank you to resident, Barbara, who purchased this for the home.

It was set up during our weekly coffee morning for residents, staff and families to see how it worked. Everyone thought how wonderful it was and we are all looking forward to using it and having hours of fun.

Works of Art

Works of Art

We took a couple of residents to see the new Banksy paintings in Port Talbot. It's amazing to see his artwork so close to home.
