Activities at Archview Lodge Care Home
Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.
Diane Wood
Hi, my name is Diane and I am Head of Activities here at Archview. I have worked in the homes since 2009.
I strongly believe in creating moments for our residents and embracing their individuality with tailor made activities, whilst remaining person centred and respecting resident’s preferences. Every day I like to ensure the residents on memory lane can enjoy themselves and have a good time whilst forming bonds with each other and the staff around them.
Outside of work, I have a 23 years old son and a wee dog called Hugo and my ambition is to make people smile and be happy.

Life at Archview Lodge Care Home
30 Years of Barchester
To celebrate Barchester's 30 Years of Caring, Archview’s staff & residents decided to have a 1990’s dance off! Everyone had such a great time and really enjoyed themselves.
Virtual trip to the Donkey Sanctuary
Across our services, Residents enjoyed a fantastic virtual tour of the Donkey Sanctuary Manchester. Residents were thrilled to meet the lovely herd of donkeys, including Henry and his best friend Tiny Tim and to learn more about their every day care. They were introduced to the sanctuary’s work and the impact they make to the lives of donkeys in need worldwide. The virtual experience was truly enjoyed by all.
Bewitching tricks and spooky treats
Barchester’s Archview Lodge care home, in Dalkeith, was a den of ghoulish activity as the home’s spooky Halloween party got in to full swing. Staff, residents and guests got in to the spirit of things with life music, best fancy dress competition, drinks and spooky snacks.General Manager, Sarah Thomson cackled: “Our residents and staff love an opportunity to dress up and what better time of the year to do this than Halloween? We’ve had a whole range of tricks and treats for the people that live here and their guests today and we have all really enjoyed every moment of it!”
Stars in your eyes
Archview’s very own Stars in your eyes. Mary one of our activity coordinator organised it all for residents & staff to take part in. Our residents & staff that took part were amazing and the residents, staff & family members that watched said everyone was amazing and was a great afternoon.
Ready steady cook!
Archview’s very own live ready steady cook. Our residents here at Archview really enjoyed watching and tasting the food the chef’s made.
