Activities at Wood Grange Care Home

Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.

Ruby-Mae Walker

Activities Coordinator

Hello, my name is Ruby-Mae and I am the activities Co-Ordinator here at Wood Grange.

My background is working in dance education and production as well as experience in the mental health care sector. I am extremely passionate about my role here in promoting life enrichment within the home and I feel privileged to work alongside such amazing people, and to be a part of our residents lives, spending quality time with them on a regular basis. I work alongside Louise to plan and organise daily activities to suit our resident’s needs, Louise and I are very enthusiastic about our roles and the resident’s well-being is always at the forefront of our minds.

I love to dance, keep fit by going to the gym and spending time with family.

Master Florist tutorial

Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!

Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own.  Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

Pampering is not only for the Ladies

Our ladies love to get pampered but also our men do. John has enjoyed a session of pampering, head and hand massage whilst enjoying some light stretches to promote good mood and ease stiff joints. Gosia who is a trained massage therapist, creates a wonderful relaxing atmosphere for our residents.

Enjoying the Outdoors

Wood Grange residents love to get out in the garden as much as possible, we made the most of the winter sunshine and temperature of 10 degree C! A huge difference from the -4 days last week.  We wondered round the garden looking at all the spring plants peeping through the soil leaving us excited for spring.  Harry really enjoys being outside in any weather.

Mr Davies took time to talk to residents individually and then in a group in the Baston Lounge whilst enjoying light refreshments.
