Activities at Tixover House Care Home
Our activities team are great at building the activities programme around the likes and interests of the people we care for. Ensuring that our social events offer fun and adventure is part of the ethos of our home; it’s important that those we support can enjoy an active and social lifestyle. Of course, there will always be those who prefer peace and quiet, and in these instances, a cup of tea and a chat are always welcomed.
Nicola Blevins-Twose
Hello, my name is Nicola (Nic) and I'm the Activities Coordinator here at Tixover House.
My role is to enrich the lives of our residents by providing stimulating and person-centred activities, entertainers and outings. At Tixover House we offer something for everyone, including crafts, games, virtual visits to places of interest around the world, outings in the local area and parties. We also provide one-to-one time and sensory activities with residents who need more support. Getting to know our residents better is so important, and through regular family and friends meeting we can gain a greater understanding of their loved ones' interests and life prior to joining Tixover House.
I look forward to getting to know you, and your loved ones. 'Living life to the full' is my motto, and whatever your ability there is always something new to learn or try.
We are always open to new ideas. If you would like to get involved in any of our Life Enrichment activities or have a skill, or project you'd like to share with our residents, please click here to contact me direct. New entertainers and community links are always welcome.

Life at Tixover House Care Home
Bucks Fizz and Sunshine
Residents, friends and family have had a lovely afternoon in our beautiful gardens.
Our residents enjoyed a refreshing glass of Buck’s Fizz whilst reminiscing and laughing together about summers gone by.
It was a wonderful day with lots of sunshine and smiles all round!
Tixover Welcomes Stamford Chess Club
Battle lines were drawn at the Tixover House Care Home in Ketton where super-competitive residents were keen to get involved in an evening of Chess themed fun.
Staff and residents at the Tixover House Care Home decided to warmly invite the local chess club from Stamford for an evening of chess and refreshments. Both staff and residents enjoy a game of Chess and they love to plan their next moves. It is such a skilful game, it is as interesting to watch as it is to play.
Caroline and Nicola the Activities Co-ordinator’s at the home commented: “Lots of our residents love to play Chess, we regularly have a game on the go and some games last for hours. Not generally the ones where I am involved, I am nowhere near as talented as the residents!”
Come fly with me!
Staff and residents at Barchester’s Tixover House Care Home in Tixover, Rutland were treated to an hour in the company of Community Engagement Manager, Rhiannon Watkinson, from the RAF Museum in Hendon, London. Coinciding with the anniversary of the D Day landings on 6th June 1944, residents joined Rhiannon for an interactive talk about historic Hendon exploring its exciting and innovative aviation history. They heard about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and all about Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon. The talk included fascinating photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive and a chance for residents to share their stories and ask questions.
Art Exhibition to Display Work by Centenarian Resident
Tixover House in Rutland is celebrating Beryl’s impending 102nd` Birthday on the 19th June by holding an art exhibition celebrating her life’s work on Tuesday 30th May.
The exhibition was inspired by the amazing paintings of resident artist Beryl, who lives at the home, and will include a range of her most recent pieces.
Beryl was born on 19th June 1921. Beryl always had a passion for art and spent her life painting and selling her works. Originally from London, Beryl moved to Rutland with Edward, her loving husband and both settled together at Tixover House.
Everyone is welcome to visit the exhibition, which will be taking place from Tuesday 30th May to the Monday 20th June at Tixover House.
