Activities at Southerndown Care Home
Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

People ask me what I enjoy about my job and the answer is easy... 'the people'. Its the small things that make the difference every day, seeing people smile and seeing someone respond positively to interaction. We offer a great life enrichment programme at Southerndown and every day is different but enjoyable.
In my spare time I like to spend time in the garden, I enjoy sewing but mostly love spending time with my grandchildren

Life at Southerndown Care Home
Visit from the wonderful Saxophonist Alan
We recently had a fantastic visit from our favourite Saxophonist Alan, we had such a wonderful time singing along and dancing to the music,
it brought back so many fond memories.
Visit to Cotswold Wildlife Park
Southerndown have had a fun filled day out at Cotswold Wildlife Park.
We spend a sunny day visiting all the animas, we saw feeding time for the penguins, and we visited the Giraffes.
We had a lovely picnic in the park and we finished our day by visiting the Monkeys.
We really enjoyed our day out at the wildlife park and we are looking forward to our next trip out.
Musical afternoon with Kiddley Divey
We had such a wonderful afternoons entertainment of dancing and singing away with Kiddley Divey.
We danced and sang to some of our favourite music and enjoyed every moment.
Charity Car Wash
Southerndown held a charity car wash in aid of the fantastic RSPCA Oak and furrows.
I was a great turn out and we certainly had the weather for it and we raised a grand total of £149.18p for such a wonderful charity.
A fantastic visit from Bellcanto
Southerndown had the pleasure to be visited from the amazingly talented Bellcanto hand bell ringers and it was just extraordinary.
It was such a delight to listen to and to sing along with. We also had some lessons in hand bell ringing which was such good fun, we are looking forward to Bellcantos next visit already.
Southerndown's Baking Club
Southerndowns baking club with Sasha is fast becoming our highlight of the week we love meeting on a Monday and baking bread or baking cakes.
We also really enjoy the taste testing, and deciding what to bake for the next week.
