Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Silverbirch House Care Home

Bob, our Resident Ambassador.

Meet Bob Silverbirch’s Resident Ambassador. Bob was the first resident to move in to his new forever home, when we opened our doors just a few short weeks ago. We are delighted for him to take on this role. Bob was born in Gateshead before moving to Surrey for his career in his 20’s. He had a very successful career as a Health and Safety Manager at an Oil Company. He has 3 sons and 6 grandchildren who he is extremely proud of. You will usually find Bob in our Cafe with a hot drink and listening to Opera his favourite kind of music.

The Big Quiz!

Our residents and staff came together with 150 other Barchester homes to take part in their first, annual, Big Barchester Quiz! Bob amazed us with his quick answers and we ended up with 29 out of 30 correct so we are feeling pretty proud!

Christmas at Silverbirch House

We are celebrating our very first Christmas at Silverbirch House and it is so exciting. The residents and team have decorated the trees, been taking part in Christmas themed activities and of course, been taking every opportunity to dress up in Christmas jumpers and Christmas accessories.

Our new Amamus coffee machine arrives.

Come a join us for a coffee made from our new Amamus coffee machine. We are thrilled to have our machine that makes so many types of coffee using blend of beans from Nicaragua and Brazil. Pop in for a ristretto, espresso, cappucino, latte macchiato or that favourite flat white. Take a tour and have a slice of cake too. Just bring a smile and a sense of curiosity.

The Rainbow Table arrives

Grand Opening performed by the Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Masuk Miah

We are thrilled to announce that Silverbirch House, our new luxury care home in Guildford, has opened its doors in style, with a Grand Opening performed by the Mayor of Guildford, Cllr Masuk Miah, in front of invited guests from the local community.

Barchester’s General Counsel and Director of Quality, Risk and Compliance, Mike O’Reilly, and General Manager of the home, Louise White, hosted the event and invited guests to view the beautiful new 64 bed care home and landscaped gardens, which is now open and welcoming its first residents. The home has been designed with residents’ comfort in mind and will offer nursing, specialist dementia and residential care from a team of well-trained staff.
