Activities at Silverbirch House Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Life at Silverbirch House Care Home

The Big Garden Bird-watch

The Big Garden Bird-watch at Silverbirch House

Over the weekend, we took part in the RSPB Big Garden Bird-watch. The residents spent time working through the list of possible birds they could spot and checked of the ones they had seen.

We are lucky enough to be placed in a wonderful location that looks over woodland and fields, the perfect place for birds to nest and settle.

We will continue to keep our eyes peeled, even though the bird-watch is over, we are expecting to see a lot more beautiful birds as the spring rolls in.

Trip out to the Garden Centre

We recently took a trip out in the minibus to the local garden centre, whilst we were there, we couldn't resist stopping in the cafe for a hot drink a scone.

It was then time for us to have a good look around where the manager stopped to tell us all about Woody the dog.

We had a lovely visit and look forward to the next!

Monet Day!

Here at Silverbirch House, some of our residents have expressed a real interest in art, so we decided to have an afternoon dedicated to Claude Monet.

We read through books, looked at pictures of his art and even had a Monet painting here to see and discuss.

Keep an eye out for the next artist we cover!

Aquatics Afternoon

A trip to the Aquatics centre had Colin reminiscing about fishing on a Sunday afternoon. We feel a fishing trip coming on, best wait for some warmer weather first!

Silverbirch's Gentleman's club

There are a range of life enrichment activities that take part in our home and our gentleman's club is one of them. Bob and Colin enjoyed getting together for a social and are looking forward to the next. As the home grows the club will grow and these gentleman are excited to welcome the newcomers.

Coffee and cup-cakes

Rosemary and Collin thoroughly enjoyed their trip to a local cafe. Their favourite part of the trip was obviously the coffee and cup-cakes. A lovely way to spend a sunny afternoon.
