Activities at Ritson Lodge Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Residents talk abut the war with School Children

Today June and Ron were asked to visit Hopton School to talk and answer questions about World War II. The children all enjoyed the experience of talking to real people about the war and their experience of the war as children of similar age to themselves now.

The toddlers came to visit!

We have toddlers group twice a month and this time it fell in the school holiday so some of the toddlers brought their brothers and sisters along too. Residents enjoyed showing the children our home grown herbs and even had the children watering the plants. Residents said it was fantastic to have the big children join us too and can’t wait to see the children again soon as it’s always a fun morning full of singing dancing and smiles.

Homemade Lavender Bags

Today we made lavender bags from lavender grown in our gardens.

Such a beautiful aroma!

Did you know that lavender can be useful in helping to calm, soothe, and promote rest and relaxation. Especially helpful before bedtime, during meditation, and whenever you need a moment to rest.

Residents even gifted bags of home made lavender to staff as residents said it helped them to get a better nights sleep.

Open Day with Vintage Cars

What a fantastic open day we have had today here at Ritson Lodge. Vintage cars, we had 11 of them in our car park! A big thank you to Lowestoft classic car club. Residents enjoyed going for a ride with the wind blowing in their hair and remembering the good old days.

Natalie Willis entertaining us and delicious vintage afternoon tea with tasty vintage cakes baked by our chefs.

We even made it in to the local paper again!

A trip to see some Llamas

Residents enjoyed a trip on our minibus to visit llamas this morning. Autumn sunshine was glorious and our home manager joined us too!

For lunch we walked to our local pub and enjoyed pub lunch followed by coffee and carrot cake in our home garden. We all had a fabulous day. One resident said he had been to see the llamas with his wife and it brought back so many memories so he took a photo on his mobile phone to show his family.

Residents enjoyed watching with feet tapping and hands clapping.

We can’t wait to have them back in our home.
