Activities at Newton House Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Life at Newton House Care Home

Young Carers Club

Lauren Mann founder of Farrow Friends, held her monthly “Young Carers Club” at Newton House.

It was a wonderful evening full of games, piano playing and reminiscing where Jackie spoke about her love of the Royal Family and how she had been so fortunate to meet them throughout her incredible career.

Many games were played including dominoes, Connect 4 and ‘Don’t touch the wire’ which was enjoyed by all.

Young Frankie brought lots of joy, laughter and cuddles to our amazing residents with his superstar personality and kindness, and we were thrilled to meet the inspirational Emma and her partner Sam with their beautiful twin daughters

Pamper session

Taking the time to pamper ourselves really helps boost our self-esteem and confidence, and we were delighted to invite our lovely ladies to a special pamper day morning at Newton House

A variety of indulging activities were on offer including foot spas followed my massage, hand and nail care, and refreshing face masks.

It was such a beautiful morning, with relaxing music in the back ground and various refreshments available too.

Even a few our of wonderful gents participated too!

Bowling Trip

We always to like to actively respond to all requests at our monthly residents meeting, and when the gents requested a bus trip out bowling together, we couldn’t wait to deliver

They had a thoroughly fabulous time and so much fun, and enjoyed refreshments of their choices – from a nice cold beer to a delicious latte!

It was lovely to see the gents cheering each other on, and the winner with an incredible 102 points was ‘Mike the Strike’

Come sing!

Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy.

Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles.

Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Harrogate Chocolate Factory

We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.

Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.

The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.

A fond farewell after almost three decades

After almost 3 decades of continuous service at Newton House much-loved housekeeper, Sue has decided to retire. Staff and residents at the home sent Sue off in style with presents to thank her for her 28 years of dedication and a huge party with lots of singing and dancing. Everyone at the home has very fond memories of Sue and she will be sadly missed.

During her time at Newton House, Sue has made a big difference to the home and the life of its residents. Her work was always completed to a high standard and she always ensured residents were happy.

Sue said: “Newton House is like a family to me and though I’m looking forward to retirement, I’m really going to miss everyone here so much!”
