Activities at Mount Vale Care Home

Our specialist activities staff are committed to organising a mix of activities and events for residents and the local community to get involved in, including trips out to local places of interest in our minibus and visits from PAT dogs, entertainers and musicians. It is important to us that each individual who we support can get as much from these as possible, so we try our best to arrange activities that reflect their interests and capabilities as best as possible, and encourage them to participate in any way they can. We also encourage relatives to join with activities and events as often as they can.

Music from 'A touch of Silver'

A sunny end of February  Saturday in Northallerton and we welcomed the Sun, along with A Touch of Silver, a quintet from Northallerton Silver band.

Residents enjoyed a range of new and old favourite tunes , toe tapping and clapping along.

Some residents even tried a seated tango partnered by our Chef.

Thank you to Touch of Silver for bringing  joy and Sunshine to our home today.

Community Connection

Residents had a lovely morning at Northallerton Methodist Churches Coffee Pot, a weekly session that brings Community together in a safe and welcoming environment.

Delicious coffee, teas, juices and mouth-watering  scones, cakes and other delicacies are provided for a very modest cost.

Residents loved meeting new friends, catching up with past friends and seeing members of the Church who visit our Care home on a regular basis.

Residents commented how good it is to get out and about.

Love is in the Air

Staff and residents celebrated all forms of love with hearts, flowers, and coming together as a community. Therapy dog Alf from Therapy Dogs Nationwide had hearts a flutter as he visited residents for lots of love and snuggles. Alf lifted the spirits of residents and the team with his special energy and dapper bow tie and neckerchief.

Grace, a resident at Mount Vale said: “It has been a lovely day. I loved having cuddles with the therapy dog, and being made to feel special with the delicious treats”

Valentine's virtual event

Across our homes we had a fantastic time joining, Kathryn Delve, Master Florist, for a Valentine’s-inspired live virtual flower arranging demonstration. Kathryn shared brilliant and creative ways to decorate our tables with beautiful flowers that are sure to make your heart swoon!

Those participating in this virtual event put their skills to the test and followed along with some amazing creations of their own.  Residents truly enjoyed the experience.

At Mount Vale we have a whole home approach to Life Enrichment

Our Gardener and Maintenance Assistant had been chatting with our Residents who expressed a wish for a good old Friday happy hour.

A time to relax, play board games, Pub quizzes, share a pint, a brew or a tipple of whatever one fancies.

So on Friday the 19th we held a very jovial happy hour, attended by Residents and family members who are welcome to join us.

Stories were shared and there was so much laughter, bringing together Staff, families, Residents.

Occasions such as this gives opportunities to get to know one another and form connections within the home as well as in the wider community through family members.

We are having Happy Hour as a regular Friday feature.

Please feel free to join us on a Friday between 2pm-3pm.

Medical Detection Dogs

Across our services residents had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Emilia from Medical Detection Dogs. Emilia took us on a journey to discover how the organisation began training dogs to support people with complex health conditions, saving their lives on a daily basis.

Using their amazing sense of smell, these dogs can identify odour changes emitted prior an episode and alert the person to take preventative action.

We were introduced to the wonderful dogs and the science behind the sniff.  It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our canine-loving residents.
