Activities at Meadow Park Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Meadow Park Care Home

Remembrance Sunday

Residents took to the streets of Bedlington to remember and pay their respects on Remembrance Sunday. We ventured to the local Cenotaph to say prayers and lay wreaths being laid in memory of those that lost their life’s for us. Remembrance Sunday is marked across the country every year and we are really  proud to be able to congregate with the local community again this year to pay our respects

Armistice Day

On the 11th hour, of the 11th day of the 11th month, we will remember them. The Armistice, an agreement to end the fighting of the First World War. Residents have took to their feet to mark the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month. An emotional time felt by everyone, staff and Residents paying our respects to the fallen

Residents celebrate the world of Roald Dahl

Meadow Park Care Home had a treat in store for their resident bookworms on September 13th as residents all joined in to celebrate the wonderful work of Roald Dahl.

Roald Dahl Day celebrates the birthday of one of the greatest storytellers of all time. The prolific writer is known for penning many popular children’s books including Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, The BFG, Fantastic Mr Fox, James and the Giant Peach to name but a few. He also wrote many books and short stories for adults, often with a twist in the tale. His books have been translated into 58 different languages and have sold well over 200 million copies worldwide.

A trip to Blyth Beach

Today residents have ventured to the coast, we hired a beach hut and enjoyed fish & chips with the lovely MIND Active team.

Residents enjoyed people watching at the beach hut, chatting to passers-by, and admiring all the dogs walking along the beach, we even had a few strokes which was lovely.

We then had fish and chips from Coastline Fish and Chip shop Blyth Northumberland with lots of salt and vinegar, residents chatted about how much fish and chips cost in their day, and were quite shocked at the current prices, everyone enjoyed it all the same. We then finished off with a seaside quiz and an ice cream.

We love taking part in these events, as it’s a great opportunity to come together with other homes and members of the community, we were thrilled to bump into an old friend Vivienne who once resided at Meadow Park.

Mayfair of Nightingales

Residents across our services had a fantastic time joining Mandy Morrow for a virtual walking tour to learn about the ‘Herstory’ of Mayfair. The Mayfair of Nightingales may be long gone but it still holds a 20th century charm. Birthplace to the late Queen Elizabeth II, home to one of WWII's most decorated female war heroes and a tale of a wealthy Aristocrat and one of France's favourite designers.

We were delighted to take a walk down memory lane and discover stories from one of London's most iconic areas.  The experience was truly enjoyed by all.

National Cheer Up the Lonely Day

We have welcomed back some familiar faces to Meadow Park, residents who have stayed with us on respite, and have since settled back into the community.

Marlene, Sylvia and Pat have enjoyed catching up with residents they became close to at Meadow Park. They enjoyed chatting over lunch and a nice cup of tea. It’s nice to stay in touch and everybody really enjoyed it, with resident wanting it to become a regular thing.
