Activities at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Life at Lancaster Grange Care Home

Residents join dogs welfare charity

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity.

Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.

Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.

World Ocean Day

We had a wonderful time when our residents recognised  ‘World Ocean Day’ here at Lancaster Grange. We challenged ourselves with the Oomph Wellness quizzes and puzzles , which is such a valuable resource we use here.

Our friend Bridgette joined us from Balderton Methodist Church and gave a meaningful spiritual service and discussion.

Bridgette was very proud to show us her paintings that her Artist Son-in-law had painted in Australia.

This gave us inspiration for our Creative Crafting underwater paintings we painted this morning.

We love our community engagement link we have with Bridgette and look forward to her visits each month.

RAF Memorial Service

A wonderful morning  at Lancaster Grange we held our annual RAF memorial service in our welcoming grounds.

Each year we hold this day in June, to commemorate the service men and women that served here at RAF Balderton.

We warmly welcomed members of the Balderton RAFA group.

Brian Hughes, chairman of Balderton RAFA, led a touching service, with prayers of remembrance and gratitude, accompanied by many other members of Balderton RAFA.

After the service our residents enjoyed their company on our sunny patio reminiscing together with refreshments.

A lovely morning here at Lancaster Grange

Great British flower week at Lancaster Grange

As part of the ‘Great British Flower’ week we welcomed Fiona of Daisy Works to Lancaster Grange this afternoon.

Fiona gave a brilliant and interesting talk about her flower farm at Syerston, how she started, the work and dedication she has for growing her flowers.

Residents marvelled at the glorious colours, textures and scents, as Fiona said ‘flowers can bring so many memories’.

Smelling flowers can take you straight back to a memory of someone in your life.

Flowers can remind you of your mother.

Flowers can remind you of your childhood, or a place you used to live or a relationship that you had.

We would like to once again thank Fiona for a superb afternoon.

Historic Hendon

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

Story telling with Jon Sleigh

Residents across our services had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.  It was a truly lovely time for all.
