Activities at Kenwyn Care Home
Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.
Jools Wyngaard
South African born Jools joined the team here at Kenwyn in March 2023 as Activities Coordinator after she decided to try life in the UK with her partner.
Jools' background is in Fundraising and Digital Marketing however after witnessing her Grandmother live with Dementia has since always wanted to work more closely with the aged and vulnerable and enrich the lives of residents.
In her spare time Jools loves her animals and misses her cats who are with her family in South Africa.

Quiz time at Kenwyn
It’s Quiz Time!
Taking part in Quizzing is not only a fun way for friends and family to spend time, it can have a real positive impact on mental health.
At Kenwyn we do enjoy a quiz and the theme of this one which was ‘Sweet and Savoury’ really grabbed everyone’s attention.
Besides, who doesn’t enjoy a little healthy competition?!
January's New Beginnings
January symbolises fresh starts, and what better way to embody this than through the creativity of butterflies and nature. Our residents had a wonderful time expressing themselves through art this week and creating beautiful representations of new thoughts and ideas for the new year ahead. Creative art is a wonderful way to express feelings and our residents look forward to these regular art sessions.
World Cruise from Kenwyn to Italy!
Today we whisked off to Italy as the first stop on our World Cruise for 2024.
Not only did we enjoy a wonderful afternoon in the Italian atmosphere, listening to Italian music and sharing stories of travels, we also made our own pizzas! Each pizza was garnished with an array of yummy toppings including meats, peppers, pineapple, and of course, lots of cheese!
We had a wonderful time on our travels today and can't wait for the next stop. The next destination is India! So keep an eye out for updates. Or better yet, why not join us?
Rosie the Therapy Dog returns to Kenwyn
Therapy dog, Rosie, is now a familiar face here at Kenwyn, making regular visits every fortnight to brighten our residents' days. This sweet-natured pup has a knack for spreading joy, greeting everyone with cuddles and happily accepting treats on her rounds through the hallways. Rosie has become a well-loved figure among the residents, who eagerly anticipate her visits, and her presence never fails to bring smiles to everyone's faces. Thank you, Rosie, for becoming a cherished part of the Kenwyn family.
Music Therapist Melanie visits Kenwyn once more
Melanie, our wonderful musician and music therapist, was back again this month for another wonderful music session with our residents. With her guitar and harmonica, she creates special moments tailored to each resident, brightening their days and helping them to open up and become more sociable and expressive
Music therapy, especially for those with dementia, has profound benefits, stimulating memories and improving mood. Melanie's sessions enhance our residents' well-being in meaningful ways and it's wonderful to see.
Dude the magical Pony visits us once more
One of Kenwyn’s most treasured visitors is Dude - the Pony from the wonderful The Hugs Foundation
When Dude visits us there isn’t a face left without a smile.
Residents, relatives and staff adore this gentle chap.
We’ve said before that something magical happens when Dude brings his energy to humans.
Animal therapy is said to improve physical, social and emotional health and Dude certainly seems to do this with all he comes into contact with.
We can’t wait to welcome Dude
back to Kenwyn.
