Activities at Hugh Myddelton House Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

A trip out to St Andrews.

Residents at Hugh Myddelton House hopped on our minibus with Jade, General Manager and members of our team and went a long to the memory cafe held at St Andrews Church, every Thursday.

The memory cafe is supported by Rotary Club of Southgate, London and Adrian and everyone made us feel very welcome. It was great to meet other from our local community.

Residents enjoyed a lovely lunch and then took part in a word association game and a quiz which was great fun. We came second! thanks to Charles, the font of all knowledge. The afternoon ended with entertainment and we sang along to the live music.

Thanks again to The Rotary Club, The Andrews Southgate and Father Ed. We really enjoyed meeting everyone and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Working at the car wash!

Staff and residents from Hugh Myddelton House care home are fundraising to support their brave colleague as he takes on a gruelling cycling challenge.

Hugh Myddelton House organised a car wash to help raise money to support colleague Wayne. All generations took part on the day cleaning cars including residents, staff and their children. They invited the local community to bring along their cars, have them cleaned and join in the fun. Head Chef Chris fired up the BBQ and laid on a lovely feast to keep every fed and their energy up. The home raised a whopping £400

On Sunday 28th May, Wayne Hughes, Regional Director of Barchester Healthcare’s London Region, will take part in the Ride 100 cycle race across London and Essex to raise money for Barchester’s Charitable Foundation. The Foundation supports older people and other adults living with a disability or mental health problems by helping them to connect or re-connect with others in their local communities.

Coronation Celebrations

Excitement is in the air at Hugh Myddelton House in Southgate where residents and staff have been busy making Coronation-themed decorations and baking up a storm of red, white and blue cakes and pastries with the help of head chef Christopher in preparation for the King’s Coronation on May 8.

Staff and residents at the home put their heads together and came up with a plan for their celebrations fit for a King.  Our home was beautifully decorated with themed flags, banners and red, setting the stage for a grand royal party, barbecue, tea party, concert with live music by Ian James.

International Dance Day

Staff and residents at the home marked the day with a whole host of dance-related fun activities. Residents were given the cha-cha-chance to learn new dance styles from around the world. They were joined by the Iberian Folkloric dance and music association who put on an amazing show and encouraged everyone to join in. Elsa the dance leader of the Iberian dance group celebrated her 80th Birthday and everyone sang happy birthday to her.
