Activities at Florence Court Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience, and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Jessica Duery

Senior Activities Co-Ordinator

I have been working in the Care Sector for 5 years and started out as a Domestic and Laundry Assistant. I decided that I wanted to progress my career in an Activities capacity so became an activities provider then progressed to an Activities Co-Ordinator which I did for 2 years prior to joining the team at Florence Court . I have a real passion for Activities and get a great deal of pleasure in enriching the residents life's through meaningful activities. I love getting to know the residents and spending time with them finding out what they love to do. Every day is very different and rewarding.

International Flower Day

Yesterday residents enjoyed making beautiful flower arrangements to decorate our home in commemoration of the day. International Flower Day promotes the psychological boost that flowers can give to people. From growing and nurturing plants and flowers, to gifting flowers to show love and appreciation, and sometimes just the simple act of admiring their beauty – flowers have the power to make someone’s day

Battle of the Bowling!

Our first minibus trip of 2024 was incredi-bowl.

We love to find fun and different things for our residents to do on our outings. Everyone enjoyed some healthy competition and a great laugh battling to be the winner! Residents reminisced organising bowling parties for their family and loved being able to relive the joy.

Christmas at Florence Court

Our Christmas elves worked very hard to make sure every resident had a present specifically picked for them to enjoy yesterday. All our residents enjoyed some festive cheer and a glass of Buck’s Fizz to start their Christmas morning, followed be a delicious home cooked roast dinner prepared by our amazing kitchen team! We have loved all our festive activities throughout the month and hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas!

Christmas light switch on

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our light switch on. We were honoured to have the Mayor of Fareham, Councillor Fred Birkett and Mayoress Lisa Birkett press the button to illuminate our tree and external lights. Our residents loved meeting and chatting with them. A massive thank you to New Music Makers for performing a wonderful selection of carols which residents loved joining in with. We also enjoyed a festive buffet and delicious mulled wine before we all went outside to admire the lights. It was a wonderfully festive evening enjoyed by all.
