Activities at Epsom Beaumont Care Home

At Epsom Beaumont, the daily activities always aim to be enjoyable for all. Our Activities Coordinator is constantly working to mentally and physically stimulate each resident and ensuring that our programme is define moulded to the wants and needs of those we support. We host weekly outings to many local coffee shops, and also some bigger trips to Brighton and the Brooklands Museum. Our outings tend to be a new and exciting experience for residents, but are sometimes repeated for those who could not make the trip the first time. The activity schedule changes weekly, but there are some regularities, such as our crossword and bar nights, where families are invited to join their loved ones for a social evening. Activities are one of the most important aspects of a care home and we are proud to say we have a dedicated Activities Coordinator who is supported by all of the care team to really make it successful. We have received excellent feedback from residents and relatives, which only makes our bond with them stronger.

Louisa Capaldi

Activities Coordinator

I always said when I started working I wanted to have a rewarding job that puts a smile on people’s faces and makes their day just that little bit brighter! I started working in the care sector as a hospitality Assistant, and then became a carer and then the activities coordinator. I really enjoy getting the residents up and moving, and getting active. I enjoy learning new things about the residents and doing meaningful activities with them that they enjoy and benefit from.

Life at Epsom Beaumont Care Home

Professionals Breakfast

From 8am-10am on Wednesday 7th February local professionals came together in the homes lounge to network over a selection of pastries, bacon sandwiches and fresh fruits. The local Professionals were amazed with the delicious spread put on by Head Chef, Rostom Abidi. Epsom Beaumont Care Home is keen to be part of the community and our regular Professional breakfast meetings allow individuals to meet and connect with one another. It’s a great chance to share experiences, make new contacts within the community, and of course, enjoy our wonderful spread provided by our hospitality team!

The day the farm came to visit

Epsom Beaumont had a surprise when they had piglets, chickens, Guinea pigs, cats and dogs roaming around their lounge. Staff members and relatives came along to the homes farm visit with their young children.

Alice, a resident at Epsom Beaumont said “it was so lovely for my Grandchildren to interact with all the different farm animals, the children were so excited to give the little piglet his milk.

Dementia Champion, Lema and Senior Carer Joanne were able to take the animals around the home to visit everyone, They couldn’t believe it when they walked in cradling a little piglet in their arms! What a fantastic afternoon, we can’t wait for Browells farm to come back soon.

Love is in the air

In February we all enjoyed celebrating Valentines Day with a delicious Valentine’s Day afternoon tea. Our amazing catering team baked a mouth watering double chocolate fudge cake and buttery heart shaped shortbread biscuits for everyone to enjoy.

Madge and June residents at Epsom Beaumont Care Home were both very excited to indulge in the selection of sweet treats provided by the catering team. The homes florist, Gaya kindly arranged some beautiful red roses and individually handed a beautiful red rose to each resident and staff member to share the love this Valentine’s Day.

Residents Meeting with Afternoon Tea

Once a month we have a residents meeting at Epsom Beaumont Care Home. Regular meetings with residents and their family and friends are a really important form of communication, as it gives them the opportunity to be involved in the running of our home, share any suggestions for new activities or any special meal requests.  At our January meeting, our Residents enjoyed a delicious afternoon tea  and a cheese board prepared by our talented Head Chef, Rostom Abidi.

Barchester’s Big Quiz of The Year

Residents and staff enjoyed taking part in the Live Virtual Event- Barchester’s Big Quiz of the Year! The live virtual event took place on Tuesday 9th January 2024 at 2.30pm. The event was shown on our big TV and We linked up with all our Barchester homes and hospitals across the country for Barchester’s Big Quiz of the Year. We look forward to finding out which Barchester home or hospital has the best quizzers and who will win a fabulous divisional prize!
