Activities at Chater Lodge Care Home

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.

Maria Durrant

Activities Coordinator

Hello. I am Maria and I have lived in Ketton for most of my life. I worked at the local primary school before joining Chater Lodge in 2019. My first role here was as a Dining Host and have now found my passion in creating an interesting and inclusive programme of activities for all our residents. I like having fun with residents, dressing up, singing songs and celebrating special events. I love being a part of the team here and my career change to Activities Coordinator is the best thing I have ever done.

Life at Chater Lodge Care Home

Icon Day

Our colleagues came together for our residents enjoyment and laughter, as we dressed up as some famous faces.

Amongst the icons of yesteryear were Elvis , Ali G, Barbie in a box , white snake artist , Mary Poppins, Herminia from Harry Potter and Sandy from Grease.

Zoe our brilliant manager featured as Top guns Maverick and our regional director joined in the fun as Britney Spears. Residents were asked 'who is your favourite icon' was and were able to use technology to research them and watch videos, from Sir Stanley Matthew’s, the Queen, Marilyn Monroe amongst many others.

Christmas Decorating

There was festive cheer in the air as our residents and colleagues came together to decorate our home.

Against the backdrop of Christmas Carols and sweet festive treats our residents enjoyed emabracing the Christmas spirit as we all look to forward to the holiday season.

Making a Wish Come True

Resident, Sylvie, at the Chater Lodge Care Home, who was once an au pair in France, wished to revisit the country and relive her precious memories. So, as we couldn't take Sylvie to France, the home decided to bring France to her.

Our colleagues embraced the spirit of France with fancy dress, our team in the kitchen went all out with a themed menu and our home was adorned in French Decorations.

Sylvie has lived at  Chater Lodge for a number of years and is beloved by staff and residents alike. Staff at the home were delighted to be a part of making her dream come true, as they knew how much it meant to her, and they all wanted to be there to see the smile on Sylvie’s face when her dream was realised.
