Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

Stephanie Boyd

Lead Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Steph and I am Lead Activities here at Caldy Manor. As an Activities Coordinator I focus on encouraging our residents to take part in outdoor trips on the mini bus, delivering varied exercise classes and assisting residents with their chosen activities as part of our homes life enrichment plan. It is important that we continue to ensure our residents are connected to their local community.

Life at Caldy Manor Care Home

Home hosts Summer Fete

Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Caldy Manor to enjoy a Summer Fete that was held in the home’s grounds over the weekend.

Caldy Manor hosted a variety of activities throughout the day, including a pony visit from ‘cupcake’, tombola, face-painting, stall, guess the weight of cake and live entertainment, which were enjoyed by everyone who came to the event.

A dog is for life

Residents across our homes had a fantastic time during a special live virtual event, led by Jennifer and Emily from Dogs Trust, the UK's largest dog welfare charity. Jennifer and Emily took us on a journey to discover the rich history of Dogs Trust and their facilities.

Using captivating video and photo footage, our residents were able to explore rehoming centres and learn more about the highest level of welfare offered there. It was a delightful experience for everyone, especially our dog lovers.

Ferry across the Mersey

Staff and residents from Barchester’s Caldy Manor care home, in Caldy had a fantastic time visiting Liverpool where they all enjoyed taking the ferry over the Mersey.  Residents and staff had a brilliant time on the ferry, seeing camel laird’s and learning about the history of the ferries.

Carers Week

For carers week the residents made cards and planted some plants to give as gifts for the carers. We held a party for all staff to say a big thank you for all their hard work. The chef put on an excellent buffet and some staff enjoyed making cakes. We was entertained by one of our favourite entertainers Dave Voller who is a one man band of a ukulele, guitar and a drum. It was a wonderful afternoon enjoyed by all.

A trip to the Farmers Arms

Residents enjoyed a visit to our local pub the Farmers Arms. It was perfect weather to sit out in the beer garden with a nice cold drink. It was that popular we did two trips and residents said they would like to do this more.

Spanish Day

We enjoyed holding a Spanish day here at Caldy Manor which included tapas and a performance from Deva Flamenco dance company. Staff and residents dressed up and took part in some flamenco dancing. We ended the day with tapas including olives, breads with different oils and some selection of meat.
