Activities at Caldy Manor Care Home

Our Activities Coordinators work together to provide daily activities suited to the tastes of residents. We encourage those we support to continue with any hobbies whilst they stay at home. We also hold group activities, such as exercise to music, sing-alongs, craft sessions and visits to local places of interest. There are also evening events, including cheese & wine evenings and race nights. We keep families up-to-date through our newsletter and notices that can be found across the home. Family and friends are always welcome to join in!

As an Activities Coordinator I focus on encouraging our residents to take part in outdoor trips on the mini bus, delivering varied exercise classes and assisting residents with their chosen activities as part of our homes life enrichment plan. Life at Caldy Manor Care Home

Paper Flower Arranging

To celebrate international flower day the residents had a go at some flower arranging. We started off by using glue to stick tissue paper onto a template of a flower and the residents enjoyed using loads of different colours and scrunching the tissue paper. Then we made flower bouquets and placed them into jars and displayed them on the tables in the dining room so the residents to enjoy looking at their creations.

Getting Creative

The residents tested their artistic skills by painting on canvases using acrylic paints. We had an example photo which the residents used as a template but all ended up with very different and unique designs using their preferred colours and brush stroke techniques. We then stuck on cut out of birds and all in all the residents were very proud of their work. We then displayed their  pieces in the home for everyone to see.

Elvis day

We enjoyed a lovely fulfilled afternoon celebrating Elivs’ 89th birthday. The residents thoroughly enjoyed dressing up, singing and dancing to all their favourite Elvis songs. This was followed by a quiz all about Elvis and the residents were filled with joy and had smiles on their faces all day!

Pamper day

We all love being pampered, so what better time to do it than Christmas. We had gingerbread moisturiser and bubble soak to keep us in the festive spirit. Our pamper days include foot spa, foot massage, nails trimmed and painted and finished off with a lovely massage. This is a really nice time to have that individual time with residents and staff and really engage with each other.

Elf day

Today we enjoyed all our naughty elves coming to have some fun with the residents. The staff thoroughly enjoyed dressing up which our resident’s really enjoy seeing this side to the staff. We hid some elves around the home which the staff really enjoyed taking part in specially when the winner won a bottle of wine!

Decorating the home for Christmas

We all enjoyed participating in decorating the home for Christmas whilst enjoying mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas music. One of our residents donated a Christmas tree and decoration’s and took pride in decorating it in the dining room for us all to enjoy. We all had such a festive afternoon and talked about when the residents decorated their homes with the children.
