Activities at Austen House Care Home

Here at Austen House, we like to get to know those we support, and from the day of moving in, our activities team will spend time on an individual basis learning about interests, likes and dislikes, life history and favourite hobbies.

We provide a wide range of activities, from one-to-one time, manicures and board games, through to live entertainment, prize bingo and our ever-popular cheese & wine events. Our activities team will also tailor individual activities to ensure residents can have as much or as little involvement as they choose.

In the summer months, greater focus is given to outdoor activities, such as barbecues and garden parties. In conjunction with our Chef, themed events are planned throughout the year, bringing activities and food together.

In their pink polo shirts, our activities team are easily identifiable and embrace ideas and suggestions from residents and their relatives to ensure that the activities provided keep those we support engaged, stimulated and entertained.

Life at Austen House Care Home

Employee of the Month - July

Employee of the Month - July

Congratulations to Teresa Humphries, who was named as Austen House's Employee of the Month for July.

Teresa is a Care Assistant and Activities Coordinator at Austen House. She assisted the home by covering as a Chef and then for reception. She was then asked to cover for the Activities Coordinator, which she was gladly willing to do and excelled in her approach to her new responsibilities. She is a very kind and dedicated person and her communication to elderly residents and their loved ones is impressive.

What's been happening at Austen House?

We've been keeping ourselves very busy here at Austen House throughout July and August. Residents created cards on Friendship Day, enjoyed tea and cake in the bistro, as well as some fine dining; celebrated the General Manager's birthday and also went on a lovely trip out to Dinton Pastures to feed the ducks – and much more!

Carers Week

Carers Week

To celebrate the amazing, dedicated and valuable work of our carers, we were pleased to be able to spoil them with chocolates and goodies to recognise their hard work. The kindness and compassion of our teams ensures that together, everyone is committed to providing the best quality care, and Carers Week was the perfect opportunity to show our appreciation. A calorie-laden day to say thank you!

Care Home Open Day

Care Home Open Day

Residents, relatives and guests enjoyed a beautiful sunny day in the gardens of Austen House to celebrate Care Home Open Day. We were delighted to welcome so many new visitors to the home, who joined us in listening to live entertainment, as well as enjoying a delicious spread prepared by the in-house catering and hospitality team. Prizes were won by our guests and families during the raffle draw. It was a wonderful and lively day and all our new guests had the opportunity to have a tour of our newly-refurbished home.
