Activities at Austen House Care Home
Here at Austen House, we like to get to know those we support, and from the day of moving in, our activities team will spend time on an individual basis learning about interests, likes and dislikes, life history and favourite hobbies.
We provide a wide range of activities, from one-to-one time, manicures and board games, through to live entertainment, prize bingo and our ever-popular cheese & wine events. Our activities team will also tailor individual activities to ensure residents can have as much or as little involvement as they choose.
In the summer months, greater focus is given to outdoor activities, such as barbecues and garden parties. In conjunction with our Chef, themed events are planned throughout the year, bringing activities and food together.
In their pink polo shirts, our activities team are easily identifiable and embrace ideas and suggestions from residents and their relatives to ensure that the activities provided keep those we support engaged, stimulated and entertained.

Life at Austen House Care Home
Queens Birthday Party
Residents had a lovely afternoon for the Queens birthday and National Tea Day. They celebrated with afternoon Tea that was fit for the queen and listened to some lovely old music that bought back a lot of memories for everyone.
Easter Art Class
What a lovely afternoon everyone had. Drawing pictures and learning a tip or two from the other residents. Followed by tea and cake. They are looking forward to next week's class to see what else they can learn.
Caring Pictures
As the cards, letter and pictures pour in from people in our community. We are making sure we write or draw back to them. Our residents have really enjoyed making cards and pictures for the local children to enjoy too. We hope we will make new friends in the process.
Staying Connected
As doors are now closed to visitors and loved ones. We know how important it is to stay connected with those special people in our lives. We have set up Skype and face time calling. We want to make sure sure everyone stays as comfortable and sociable as possible.
Spread Hope
Residents at Austen House have keeping busy during this time by making rainbows! This is one of the ways being used to try and keep morale up in communities is by painting rainbows
The current trend appears to have started in Italy but has also been adopted by the US, Canada and Spain, where people have adorned their windows and balconies with colourful pictures. We want to spread hope and cheer to anyone passing by Austen House.
Flower Arranging Session
We had beautiful fresh flowers arranged by residents to brighten up the home this month. Since it has been too cold and rainy we have not been able to get into our garden, so having fresh flowers in the home gives it a nice warm feel specially in time for Valentine’s day.
