Activities at Washington Grange Care Home

Our group and individual activities are designed to mentally and physically stimulate those we care for. We try to organise a mix of activities and events that reflect the interests and capabilities of residents for anyone and everyone to participate in. Our evenings of afternoon entertainment is enjoyed by residents and their families, who are all encouraged to sing along and dance. We try to involve our local community; members of the clergy often visit to hold lovely afternoon church services for residents. It is essential that our team are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for those we support through person-centred activities, and that everyone has a fun and active time here at Washington Grange.

Life at Washington Grange Care Home

Retail therapy

Residents at Washington Grange recently enjoyed a trip out to their local shops to check out what was new before enjoying a refreshing cup of tea.

Residents said: "Thank you, it’s been lovely to get back out and see the shops" "It’s been a lovely morning!"  General Manager, Paula Joicey said: "it’s nice to take the Residents out and see them enjoy themselves, especially seeing everyone chat to people they bumped into and saying lovely things about the home and all the colleagues.”

Exercising the mind, body and soul

Keeping active, having social interactions and being mentally stimulated is very important to Residents at Washington Grange.   Residents enjoyed a games afternoon bringing a selection of fun games to the table.

As part of the homes life enrichment programme, we include firm favourites in the homes calendar with fun-filled adapted games that they played over the years in a safe environment!

Pamper time

The team at the home were on hand to provide the resident centred pamper sessions, with residents enjoying treats such as cakes and refreshments whilst being given manicures and hand treatments.

Residents enjoy remininscence session

Residents of Washington Grange enjoyed a reminiscence session over afternoon tea, the homes hospitality team whipped up a delicious spread with everyone enjoying the treats. It was a busy day as we also enjoyed life entertainment.

Macmillan Coffee Morning

In recognition of Macmillan’s Coffee Morning, we hosted our very own fundraising coffee morning for friends, families and community members to raise funds for the charity.

Our home was specially decorated for the occasion, our talented chef prepared a variety of cakes, cupcakes and delicious treats following Macmillan Cancer Support’s recipes and we all got involved in fun-filled games and activities.

We all had a wonderful day raising funds for this lovely cause.

Summer Fete brings community together

Residents and Relatives at Washington Grange enjoyed a late summer fayre.  Various stalls were in place for all to join in with a bouncy castle to add to the fun for local children.

Paula Joicey, General Manager, commented: “A wonderful day has been had by all, with everyone dancing together and enjoying themselves. We look forward to the next event we hold.”
