Activities at Stamford Bridge Beaumont Care Home

The activity team within our home spend a lot of time committing themselves to organising a range of activities for residents. This includes, pet therapy, trips out to local places of interest, visits from entertainers and musicians, bingo, one to one pamper time, weekly quizzes, coffee mornings, arts and crafts and baking. Activities are considered to be a crucial aspect of our home as residents look forward to upcoming events. As a result, it is essential that our team work together with dedication, to ensure residents are entertained and involved in as many activities as possible.

Michael Lythgoe

Activities Lead

I have worked in the care sector for 36 years, initially working for the NHS at Brandesburton Hospital as a care assistant. When the hospital closed I transferred to Townend Court and continued as a care assistant on the forensic ward for people with a learning disability. It was whilst working with the Occupational therapists at Townend that I discovered my passion for engaging the patients in activities of their choosing, I’m quite artistic and creative so it was an easy transition

I have many years’ experience working with the older generation and those who live with dementia, Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s and other diagnosis’.

I am really looking forward to bring both my experience and passion to my new role and to see the positive impact on our resident population.

Our Knitting Team

Our team of knitters have been busy again and have produced baby hats for the neonatal ward at the local hospital. Our knitters meet each week, and have created many amazing items.

Historic Hendon

Across our services we had a lovely time joining Rhiannon Watkinson from the RAF Museum London for an interactive talk exploring the exciting and innovative aviation history of Hendon.

Our residents were able to learn about the first flights from the fields at Hendon, the creation of the London Aerodrome and Battle of Britain pilots who flew from RAF Hendon.

The talk also included photographic and film material from the Museum’s archive. Residents across our homes had a fantastic time and we truly enjoyed the virtual experience.

Visit to our local Café

We enjoyed a walk in the sunshine over to our local coffee shop, No.10 Bistro.

No.10 is one of the residents favourite places to go for a morning cappuccino and a tea cake, we are so lucky to have such a lovely cafe in the village with welcoming staff.

Flower Arranging at Stamford Bridge

This week, the residents chose tulips for this weeks Bloom of choice, accompanied by a variety of different flowers to display around the home. The colour combinations were carefully arranged, and the smell of the fresh flowers accompanied by the sun shining is making everybody extremely excited for summer!

Did you know that fresh flowers generate happiness? Arranging flowers, and even just simply being around them and seeing them, can lift our spirits and increase happy emotions!

Chair Exercises

Our residents had a fun filled morning participating in a chair exercise class from Oomph Wellness.

During the session, we had lots of fun and sang along to the songs and everybody was left feeling refreshed and energised to start the day.

Chair exercises are part of our weekly activities programme and are an excellent way to build strength and improve flexibility without putting too much strain on your body.

Virtual Sensory with the Historic Royal Palaces

Our residents had a delightful time during a special virtual sensory storytelling event, led by Art Historian Jon Sleigh from the Historic Royal Palaces.

Jon took us on a journey to discover some of the more unusual and unexpected inhabitants of the palaces and the Tower of London, sharing fascinating stories about the pets at the palaces.

Whilst enjoying the virtual experience, our residents were treated to hot beverages, delicious biscuits, berries and cakes.

It was a truly lovely time for all.
