Activities at Pentland View Care Home

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!

Activities and Events Partnerships

As part of our bespoke life-enrichment programmes, we host a number of live virtual events in the home on a regular basis through a number of partnerships with places of interest and world class performance companies

Life at Pentland View Care Home

Live musical performance

Residents enjoy an afternoon of song and live entertainment as we welcomed popular local musician – Faith Charlton – to the home who performed a medley of well-known hits we enjoyed singing along too.  Group musical sessions are a popular part of our homes life enrichment programme.  Residents enjoy Faith’s visits as she is a talented guitarist and singer and performs a great variety of songs we all love!

Resident centred activity

Our life enrichment programme is varied and we always have a lot of fun things planned from virtual events, clubs, coffee and catch ups but sometimes the simple and quiet things are enjoyed alone whether it’s a board game, knitting and showing our creative flair or catching up on the news with the papers allows us to keep our minds active whilst we relax.   This week Molly enjoy reading the Ocadian from back home in Orkney and Bab’s reading Remembering Caithness – what will be up to this week?

Come sing!

Residents across our homes and hospitals had a fantastic time with vocal coach Dan Cooper from Biiah as he led an amazing sing-a-long session for residents to enjoy.

Residents who joined the event were able to learn different techniques as they sang the famous ‘I Can See Clearly Now’ by Jimmy Cliff and ‘Here Comes the Sun’ by The Beatles.

Across our homes there were smiles and laugher all around. The session was such a success and was great for the mind, body and soul.

Inside the Factory

We had a brilliant time across our services with Harrogate Skills 4 Living as they took us on a wonderful virtual visit to their Harrogate Chocolate Factory.

Residents were thrilled to discover details about the chocolate-making process and the fascinating journey from bean to bar, all while enjoying some delicious sweet treats.

The Factory aims to employ people with learning disabilities and autism, involving them in all parts of the process, from sorting and roasting the beans to packaging and sales. The experience was truly enjoyed by all who joined this event.

Beat the Clock

We continue to celebrate a varied life enrichment programme and across our services we linked up with other Barchester care homes and hospitals up and down the country for some interactive Beat the Clock games.

Our residents truly enjoyed solving word puzzles, conundrums and mathematical problems as part of Barchester’s very own game show series.

Everyone who joined had a fantastic time and enjoyed some friendly competition.

Rock to it for Easter hunt

Staff and residents have been having fantastic fun hiding painted Easter rocks all over the place in Thurso for local children to find.

The staff and residents decided to challenge local children to find 6 Easter rocks that have been hiding in all kinds of different locations all over town.  The children then have to return to Pentland View with the rock and will receive an Easter egg as a prize!

Activities coordinator, Jeanine Sinclair, said: “We’ve had so much fun painting and hiding the rocks for the children to find! Residents are looking forward to seeing the children visit8ing to get their chocolate eggs. We made a whole afternoon of hiding them and then going for a celebratory coffee. What fun we had!”
