Activities at Oulton Park Care Home

We have a wonderful team here at Oulton Park and we all work together to provide a stimulating, active environment for our residents that live here. We are always looking for new and innovative ideas for our residents to be part of here, and our activities coordinator works very hard on planning and providing a stimulating busy schedule of activities, as well as assisting the residents with their daily living preferences. We have regular meetings with our families and residents to make sure we are providing things to suit their preferences. We as a home are registered with the National Activity Providers Association and strive to provide a person-centred approach for our residents here.

Louise Hunter-Hall

Life Enrichment & Activities Coordinator

Hello my name is Louise, I am the life enrichment and activities coordinator at Oulton park care centre.

I joined Oulton Park late 2023 but I have worked in the care industry for over 20 years and I have a compassion for my role and work. During the 20years I have supported many different adults with different care needs including, nursing care, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, independent living and 1:1 needs. I have both my level 2&3 in care and level 2 in sign language.

At Oulton my role is to create and organise a range of engaging and meaningful activities. My role brings me a great deal of comfort and joy.

If I can just make 1 persons life better during my working day at Oulton Park then the day has been a success. I feel honoured, fortunate and blessed to do the job I do.

Pudding Club To Celebrate Our 20th Birthday

Wow what an amazing afternoon

Today we had our first ever pudding club celebrating 20 years of care at Oulton Park. We enjoyed an amazing selection of puddings made by our residents and chefs.

The residents joined together to talk about desserts they enjoyed and the memories associated with the desserts made. Amongast other this month we made a Spanish orange cake, this is from our lovely Gordon's childhood memory about holidays in Spain.

We were honoured with a visit from the mayor of Lowestoft Sonia Barker and local historian Ivan Bunn who joined our residents, their families and the staff at Oulton Park in our afternoon of celebration.

Puppy Love

What a lovely afternoon made even better by some Marley cuddles. The residents have been waiting eagerly to meet Marley and today they finally did and as you can see the joy he brought to the residents

Marley definitely had us all wrapped round his paw and we can’t wait to see him again.

Animal Therapy is one of the cornerstones of our life enrichment program and regularly features on our weekly activities calendar.

Christmas fete

The elves are serving cake. What a way to start the Christmas festivities with a fete at Oulton park. The residents and staff enjoyed spending the time together whilst eating cake and drinking hot chocolate. The residents enjoyed watching the children sing Christmas carols and their family’s coming to visit. The smiles and laughter from everyone who came filled the air and a wonderful time was had by all. watching the residents engage and enjoying our events. Shows all of us here that what we do at Oulton park is making a difference to our residents lives and is a pleasure to watch how much joy it brings.

Lunch Club

Once a month a small group of residents gather together to enjoy a lunch experience, There is always great anticipation for this lunch as the residents like trying new and exciting food or food from there childhoods. This month we enjoyed a traditional ploughman’s lunch, we chatted and laughed whilst we shared food together and spoke about the things we used to eat as children, reminiscing about the days the residents were on rations and how they would save their ingredients up to make a special meal just like a ploughman’s lunch. To be able to engage with the residents about their past it lets us learn what there life has been like before they came to us.

Christmas spirt

Over Christmas time it’s the season to give, share and celebrate the things that make us happy. This year Woodsloke primary school gave the gift of smiles to our residents and how wonderful it was. Residents received a handmade card, which each of the children had made whilst at school. Smiles from ear to ear were to be seen from our lovely residents when opening the card, they expressed how wonderful it was that the children were thinking of them and the care they could see was used to make these amazing cards. True Christmas spirt was shown.

Birthday Celebration

Who doesn’t love cake! Our lovely Maureen celebrated her birthday with family (all four generation) and the staff at Oulton park. We had an afternoon of dancing and singing with a lovely performance from Richard who sang an amazing selection of songs from over the decades . All of us at Oulton park had a wonderful afternoon , we joined together to sing happy birthday and Maureen was presented a cake made by our amazing chefs which the residents then enjoyed for their dessert at dinner. A birthday celebration to remember for our wonderful Maureen.
