Activities at Leeming Bar Grange Care Home

Activities are an integral part of life at our care home. We want to ensure that the people we support have as much fun as possible during their time with us, so it’s important that our activities programme is created with the interests of residents in mind. Our skilled Activities Coordinators bring a certain uniqueness to the home that can’t be found anywhere else, and which is reflected in the activities they organise.

Kimberley Calvert

Senior Activities Coordinator

Hi my name is Kimberley, Senior Activities Coordinator, and here at Leeming Bar our life enrichment programme is varied, providing choice for our residents and incorporating their interests and hobbies.  We all know that keeping active is important. We have created a wonderful culture within Leeming Bar, and we work together to give residents the best possible experience.

We are here to ensure that residents enjoy an environment that is both stimulating and socially active. We ensure the team knows each residents' preferences, so that we can deliver a person-centred program of events and activities. Essential to our homely feel is the strong relationships of trust we build with residents, and their families and friends.

Christmas Fete

Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together at Leeming Bar Grange care home in Leeming Bar to enjoy a wonderful enchanted Christmas Fete.

An afternoon of ethereal delights were enjoyed as harpist Georgina Wells played spellbinding melodies; whilst we got up close with a real life mini 'unicorn', browsed craft and gift stalls, entered competitions, and sampled a delicious buffet & homemade hot coco!

The team at Leeming Bar Grange care home would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who either manned a stall, donated a raffle prize or who came along to support the home.  There was a fantastic atmosphere and in total the home raised over £170 which is brilliant.

Friday Funday!

We certainly 'raised the bar' with our prosecco & waffle bars!

Residents & the team were invited to join in a relaxed day of deliciousness with some choosing to spend the day in their favourite comfy cosy pyjamas!

We began our day with a relaxed brunch club where we created our own cocktails & mocktails whilst enjoying games of 'Name the Tune', which of course turned into a jovial sing along!

The delicious fun carried on into the afternoon with a pop up waffle bar where residents & the team indulged in scrumptious homemade waffles straight from the griddle, topped with everyone's favourite sweet treats; from fresh fruits & cream, to chocolate, marshmallows & ice cream.

We have never seen a jar of Nutella disappear quite so quickly!

We Plough the Fields & Scatter

We were very kindly visited by our good friend Rev'd Simon Moor from Bedale Benefice of Churches for a harvest themed Holy Communion

As always residents were thrilled to see Rev'd Simon's bright smile greeting them as they very thankfully received Holy Communion, before enthusiastically singing harvest hymns A big thank you to those who have kindly donated food items for Hambleton Foodshare as part of our Harvest Celebrations

And of course a huge thank you to Rev'd Simon for visiting us once again!

Celebrating Disney!

16th October marked not only Disney's 100th anniversary but also World Food Day so what better way to celebrate than by combining the magical world of Disney & flavours from around the world!

Residents, loved ones, & the team sampled a range of Disney inspired delicacies from Hakuna Matata Cocktails, 'Elephant Ear' pastries, 'Spoon Full of Sugar' cake bites, Mickey biccys, pumpkin spice cafe au lait, and Carribbean prawn cocktail; to Gulab Jamun; a popular Indian dessert and 'poison' apples!

Whilst sampling these delights we enthusiastically sang along to all the old classics and reminisced fondly of how Disney has been a part of our lives throughout the decades

We certainly were whistling whilst we worked!
