Activities at Kingfisher Lodge Care Home

Activities are the cornerstone of a wholesome home experience and our Activities Coordinators are always putting their creative minds to the test by organising new and exciting social events for residents to partake in. Of course, we take into account the likes and dislikes of those we support, so if someone doesn’t feel like trying something new, there will always be something on offer to reflect their personal interests. For the people who may just prefer some peace and quiet instead, we also offer one-to-one time that can be enjoyed with a nice cup of coffee or just a simple chat – whatever they desire.

Visiting Aerospace Bristol

Everyone was looking forward to this trip , we talked about it in the residents meeting last month and today it’s become a reality.

All happy to be jumping on the mini bus with George and Kelly again , this time with the chef Karen joining us , because of her love of planes.

We’re off to Aerospace Bristol on an adventure to see some fantastic aircraft!

The stunning centrepiece of our visit was Concorde Alpha Foxtrot: the last of the iconic supersonic passenger jets to be built and the last to fly.

We all enjoyed  spectacular projection show of three short films displayed onto the side of the aircraft telling its remarkable history before we were able to  step aboard. Excitedly we also explored the exhibition gallery showcasing a fascinating collection of memorabilia including a pilot’s uniform, model and a flight deck. This sparked some memories and created conversations that'll never be forgotten between residents.

Aerospace Bristol is was an exceptional experience for all of us , and we spent at least  at least three hours there. We were all still talking about what we had seen when we returned to Kingfisher Lodge and other residents picked up on our mood and quickly we were all sat down reliving our wonderful day.

The residents and the staff had an absolute blast!

We went on Baths amazing sightseeing bus!

What a wonderful experience for the residents seeing the great city of Bath and reminiscing their time around the beautiful city.

We came back to the home and talked to everyone about our day out which sparked a long chat about which Cities we all came from.

Visiting Chew Valley Lake

We enjoyed a lovely trip to Chew Valley Lake! We spent some time having a sing song in our minibus on the way to the lakes, and even played  quiz on our journey! We got our winter coats on and enjoyed a lovely walk around the lakes, taking in the fresh air and sunny views! We stopped at a local fish bar and enjoyed an amazing  fish and chip lunch. What a wonderful way to spend a sunny winters day!

A Special Visitor

We had a very special visit from someone last night…. Santa Claus himself!

Santa travelled all the way from the North Pole just to visit our residents and staff to see who was on his naughty and nice list!

We loved taking pictures with Santa and checking out his sleigh! It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas!️

A Big 100th Birthday!

We had so much fun today because one of our residents celebrated their 100th birthday today!

We hosted a rose themed afternoon tea, and indulged in plenty of cake & wine! And the King even delivered her special birthday card from the royal family!

A birthday fit for the Queen of Kingfisher Lodge!

A trip to Clark's Village

We had a truly memorable day out at Clark's Village with some of our cherished residents!

The joy of exploring the variety of shops, hunting for the perfect Christmas gifts for their loved ones, and enjoying a delightful meal in one of the restaurants made the day special.

These are the moments that remind us of the beauty of community and shared experiences.

Here's to many more adventures together!
